Blago: If You're Going To Fire Me, Obama Has To Fire Rahm
Rod Blagojevich is on a roll in his 90-minute speech to the Illinois state Senate, the chamber that is poised to remove him from office as early as today, lambasting them for removing him with no evidence that he did anything wrong.
Blago is taking particular pride in his decision to circumvent the legislative process during his first term in order to help Illinoisans get prescription drugs from Canada, teaming up with governors from other states. Blago pointed out how national Democratic leaders like Rahm Emanuel have actively promoted this issue.
So if you're going to throw him out of office, Blago argued, "let's demand that President Obama fire Rahm Emanuel, because Rahm Emanuel is the one who gave me this idea."

DUMP RAHM NOW!

I am sad he will be impeached. He is pretty entertaining.

Batshit crazy! No other way to describe Blago. Still waiting for his comparison to Jesus... it can't be far off.
PEACE

Looks like the Ill. Legislature should being in a psychologist--Blago sounds like he's not mentally competent to hold the office of Governor.
Still...might not be a bad idea--dump Rahm...

This guy is hilarious! Stupid but hilarious.
Chicago Tribune says that he never held a single cabinet meeting in his first four years. The only question is why wasn't he booted years ago?

They should put Blago and Sarah Palin in a room with rubber walls, together.

I was just thinking these two belong together. How about a reality show where they live in the same .... whatever... for a week or more?

A. He is looking for an insanity plea.
B. Rahm having an idea has nothing to do with circumventing the legislative process to craete "law" or really anything to do with the pay-for-play schemes whcih are the reason Blago is on trial.
C. I understand logic is not a valid counter argument to the Blago.

Yup. I he's doing this in order to cop an insanity defense at his upcoming criminal trial.

I have to admit, I agree that anything articles that happened during his FIRST term that wasn't brought up for Impeachment, should NOT be included in this terms Impeachment trial.
Just my opinion.

Interesting. Would you have excluded Watergate from Nixon's impeachment trial, had he not pretermitted it by his resignation?

Blago is a CRAZY guy.

Did any of you even watch the speech? What's that? No?
Like him or not the guy just gave the speech of his life, ripping the articles of impeachment to shreds, under the most intense pressure, hours away from probably being impeached. It's unlikely to change much except force both caucuses to bolt the chamber until the cablenets get bored and turn to other "news" so they don't televise the actual vote.

Angry man boycotts his own trial. Angry man comes in and yells for an hour that the charges he decided not to defend himself against were unfair. Angry man has an established history of attacking straw man notions of the allegations against him rather than the things he was actually charged with.
Why would I want to watch this again?

Because it might keep you from making factually inaccurate comments like that.

Markg8, I listened to it entirely.
As I said, I think he was right about anything that happened BEFORE he was re-elected should NOT be included in this trial.

Yeah and indicting him for taking on Bush to get prescription drugs for seniors from Canada, healthcare for poor people and kids was just stupid. Hell Wisconsin, Kansas and Vermont followed his lead on the drug thing.
I have no problem with his impeachment, but they could have picked any number of other instances of his stupidity to go after. Instead they drew up the articles like it was a personal vendetta against him and hammered him for accomplishments any Democrat ought to be proud of.

"In a rambling 40 minute crapfest...."
Just felt a slight re-write was needed there.
Flush Blago, he's a gone goose. In addition to the obviously criminality on the tapes, who would want this POS as Illinois gov. after his self-serving grandstanding denial performance today?

I love people still defending this guy. Mostly not from Illinois. Hopefully all. There is more to this impeachment than just this investigation done by Fitzgerald. Madigan has brought up impeachment papers before. Under Blago we have seen absolutely nothing get done because of him. He won't work with anyone, the state has shut down and important places, like Chicago, have gotten screwed by his idiocy. on top of that he has betrayed the trust of Illinois and embarrassed the state. But yeah, he just gave the speech of his life and is totally being crucified! Look at his approvals before the fitz. papers came out. Bush territory.

One of the ongoing problems... there are so many crooks representing us now... they are fighting to be classified as lesser crooks.
This will go on as long as we keep voting lesser crooks into office, rather than NO crooks....

Well, what are we supposed to do besides run for office then. I'm not convinced Judy Baar Topinka would have been better than Blago. If we are going to have crooks, at least I'd hope we could get crooks that get something done. Blago was the worst kind of crook, then, I guess. And remember, he ran as a reformer, it's not like we are knowingly electing crooks and are surprised consistently.

It's a typical lawyers trick:
try to focus attention on what
will be perceived as the weakest
of your opponent's arguments and
ignore the rest.
Blago's madness seems to lie in his
not seeing how much the ground had
shifted beneath his feet.
It's like someone continuing their
game of golf while an earthquake
swallows the whole county.
