Coleman Lands Gig With Republican Jewish Group, Just In Case Election Lawsuit Doesn't Work Out
Norm Coleman has signed on as a consultant with the Republican Jewish Coalition, a surprising development from somebody who has insisted he won his election and will be seated when the Minnesota legal battles are over:
RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks said, "We are thrilled and honored to have Norm Coleman join us at the RJC at this critical time. We look forward to having the benefit of his experience and wise counsel to help the RJC plot its future course. We are confident that in a few months Senator Coleman will return to his seat in the Senate, but until that time, we are eager for him to travel across the country on our behalf and to be an important voice within the organization."
During his visit to Capitol Hill yesterday, Coleman continued to project optimism even as he was busy cleaning out his desk. "We have got a good shot at this and so I proceed with that in mind," said Coleman. "But logistically you have to move out of the office."

This guy is unbelievable!

So this is how Coleman is going to pay his legal bills. This doesn't seem right though, given the situation.

Lobbying gray areas all over this activity, if he really has any thoughts of winning lawsuit(s)

So, does this mean he's not moving back to Minnesota? Woo-hoo!

...and now Coleman has already taken on another gig with the Republican Jewish Coalition (as a Jew, it's painful for me to even type that).
So even Norm knows that the jig (and his gig) is up! Yet he's still wasting time and money (the public's as well as his own) on a bid that even he has given up on! That, plus he is denying his state full representation in the US Senate.
Classy to the end, eh Norm?!? Oh, if Paul Wellstone had just taken a bus that day.......

I think Norm has totally given up on the idea of ever being active in MN politics again.
I hope the Feds stay after him and nail him and his wife if there has been wrongdoing.

There is an angle Coleman is working here. Why take on such a job for a month? Is he sending out a bat signal?

So how much will it pay? Is Norm still paying 'rent' in Washington to his GOP benefactor? Will it cover his $700k+ mortgage? Will it pay his legal bills when the FBI investigation of him goes to trial? Will he move out of Minnesota? Will he run for governor of Minnesota after Tim Pawlenty leaves office for some right wing think tank job? Will he need new suits for this consulting job?
So many questions!

from Wikipedia on the RJC:
"During the 2008 election campaign, the RJC has run a series of controversial and provocative advertisements in Jewish newspapers around the United States, mostly critical of Barack Obama and linking him to Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Patrick Buchanan and many other perceived anti-Israel leaders[7]. Tikun and Salon.com also claimed the RJC was responsible for polling phone calls ("push polls") made to potential voters in Pennsylvania and Florida that reportedly asked negative questions about Obama."
So this would be the perfect place for Norm Coleman as he and his surrogates, smeared Franken throughout the campaign and continue to malign him in the aftermath.

Well, we know that Norm isn't exactly wealthy and has his house mortgaged to the hilt. And he can't take any more money from his benefactors because I am sure he is being watched pretty closely right now. He might as well just give up the Senate because I am sure that this job pays more.

So now we know why Coleman showed up at the Senate yesterday to talk over old times with his comrades -- er, friends -- and partake of a free lunch with the gang. In truth, he was in town job-hunting. And to think that they called Bill Clinton "slick."

Now there's a lesson for you America. Don't wait for the pink slip
I've made that mistake once too often myself.
Thank you Norm for the object lesson

The Strib is reporting today that Coleman's latest folly is to have a three-person panel examine ballots in 86 precincts looking for double-counted ballots. Norm, this is ice-fishing season. Ballot-fishing season ended two weeks ago.
Aren't you supposed to have some sort of meritorious claim BEFORE you file suit?

Maybe they feel sorry for him? Or perhaps they think he can tell them what Madoff did with their money!

He does kind of make the ideal poster boy for the RJC though. I hope the corruption charges get a lot of ink to make a strong and lasting impression linking Coleman, spokesman of the RJC, to sleaze and illegality resulting in jail.
