RNC Chair Election, Round Two: Still No Winner

The RNC just finished their second round of balloting, with barely any changes as measured against the first round:

Duncan 48 (-4)

Steele 48 (+2)

Dawson 29 (+1)

Anuzis 24 (+2)

Blackwell 19 (-1)

The only candidate for whom this round was unambiguously bad was Duncan -- he's the incumbent and he lost four votes, with only 29% of the total vote. And now he's tied with Steele.

If there's going to be major movement here, one of the lesser candidates will have to drop out, or at least see their supporters effectively drop them out of the race by going to other contenders.

Still No Winner? But they're all losers...lol

Blackwell needs to drop out - it would be interesting to see where his votes go. If he endorsed one of the others, would his supporters follow?

The lowest vote getter should drop out every new round until there is a majority. It only makes sense.

Duncan is finished though, I wonder where his votes would go if he surprisingly dropped out (of course he has no reason to).

Nah, I think blackwell would be a great compromise. Everyone should bail except for him. You'll have blackwell as the face of the rnc and rambo as the candidate in 2012. Excellent theatrics, which is all the gop has left at this point.

Looks like Steele will get it, just a matter of how long it will take.

I dunno, I could see a trimumvirate formed by Dawson, Duncan and Blackwell just to prevent Steele from getting the nod. They don't think he's conservative enough.

"Republican for a reason"!

I wonder when the press will start describing this as "Republicans in disarray!"

Right.

On the 12th of Never.

great point

instead they'll probably have 15 repugs on TV talking up how this shows the strong natural bond between republicans and democracy

user-pic

You betcha!

And the feckless talking bobbleheads will all fall for it.

I think more are going to bail from Duncan on the 3rd round, in a pretty big way. It will be interesting to see where they go. Could Duncan supporters become Steele supporters or would they jump to on of the bottom three candidates, creating a new dynamic at the top.

Wow. It's really gonna be awkward for Republicans with Steele at the head of the RNC. Not all of them, just the bigoted race bait'ers.

Will Rush Limbaugh have an entire segment on how we shouldn't all be bending over and grabbing our ankles and worshiping Steele because he's black?

user-pic

If Steele wins it, Rush will hope he fails.

user-pic

ROTFLMAO!

I never thought of that. That's just going to deflate one of Rush's lines of attack.

Pugs are all about the show...They will pick Steel, thinking they can win over electorate with a magic negro of their own!
