Coleman Declares Full Vote-Count Crucial For Consent Of The Governed

Norm Coleman appeared yesterday on the Armstrong Williams radio show, and the Minnesota GOP has posted this interesting excerpt of Norm responding to Williams' question regarding how Minnesotans feel about their current lack of full representation.

"Those of us who have had the honor to serve as public servants, public officials, we serve with the consent of the governed," Coleman said. "You're not gonna get that consent if the governed -- if the citizens -- don't think the guy who got the most votes is the guy that got elected, the guy that sits in the office."

He later added: "But people in Minnesota understand that you've gotta get it right."

Where were you eight years ago, Norm, when we really needed you?

Or 4 years ago when all those voters in ohio were disenfranchised? My how the world would have been different. How pathetic.

I will be happy when this is over and coleman is in the dustbin of history.

Where was he a day after the election when he was calling for Franken to accept the election night results for the sake of healing.

Minnesota Nice has its limits, Norm. You wouldn't know that, not really being from around here.

Your time is up. You don't speak for us. You don't even listen to us. Pack up your Swift Boat Liars and get the hell out of here. You lost, jackass! GO!!!

Norm is like a nightmare that you can't wake up from....

user-pic

Where was he? Rooting for the Brooks Brothers mob, of course.

user-pic

And, of course, his own Brooks Brothers suit was provided by his sugar daddy.

See, that's the thing, Norman - you didn't get the most votes.

Why don't we just point out the obvious? The only ballots left to argue about are absentee ballots. And it is very clear that absentee ballots only favor Franken. Assume that every defective ballot - missing a proper signature or whatever - *was* counted....Coleman only loses by more.

Coleman doesn't REALLY want to count these ballots, he just wants to cast doubt.

Actually, there is good reason to think that the pool of rejected absentee ballots might not mirror those already counted. Lost in all the nonsense is that there do appear to be inconsistencies in the rigor with which different election officials rejected absentee ballots, e.g. some checked witnesses to see if they were registered voters while some did not. Those who were most stringent in rejecting absentee ballots tended to be in Republican areas.

What Coleman has not shown is the following:

1. That the flaws he's presented, even if remedied, are enough to change the result.

2. That the proper remedy for said inconsistencies is to allow more improperly cast ballots.

3. That said inconsistencies amount to an equal protection violation.

4. That any "do-over" will be any less flawed.

Hey, remember when Armstrong Williams got in trouble for sexually harassing men in his office?

How about when he took bribes from Republicans in government to pass on their propaganda?

Great platform for Norm Coleman.
