Gibbs Previews Obama Speech to House Dem Aides
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs briefed House Democratic press secretaries behind closed doors this afternoon, giving a preview of tonight's presidential speech on health care and the economy.
Gibbs told the aides that the president broke bread with major news anchors this afternoon, depicting himself as "Dr. Obama" (as Katie Couric put it) and the nation as a patient in need of a positive diagnosis.
So it's safe to say that tonight's speech will be optimistic -- but will it break news? What's gone under-reported in the anticipation of Thursday's White House budget release is the fact that the plan will be a broad outline. The full Obama budget isn't expected until April, as this Politico story notes near the bottom.

Oh, they do that all the time to get stuff out into the media to build up the speech and get people talking about what they "suspect" that he is going to talk about. It's a build up tactic.

It sounds like it was only previewed internally to the white house? I assume this is so that the PR staff is prepared to start dealing with the speech as soon as it's over...

Should we expect then for the speech to debut Obama's national health insurance proposal we heard so much about during the campaign?
Should we expect the other elements of Obama's domestic agenda to finally make an appearance as well? (As far as I know neither the EFCA, nor federal stem cell research, nor any gay rights proposal Obama supports, has actually been introduced in the Congress.) Or is tonight reserved just for the economy + health insurance?

Ok, I am listening to one of the nazis, ensign, totally lie, distort historical facts and completely spew absolute bullshit on softball. Why don't they have a professor on next to point out the lies?????? Why???? I am really, really starting to hate these guys and what they are doing to our country. It is beyond treasonous. We are in a huge crisis and they are lying and obstructing the ability of the country to come out of it. WTF? They should be locked up in gitmo where they belong.
What is it with trashing the new deal?? I really don't understand that one. These animals really have no brain and will make people suffer as much as possible to keep their seats. I hope they all rot in hell.
