Another GOP Congressman 'Goes Galt'
Dave Weigel at the Washington Independent had an excellent look last week at the growing trend of conservatives "going Galt," looking to the fantastical novels of uber-capitalist Ayn Rand for sustenance as the economy founders and President Obama's approval ratings remain high.
Now we can chalk up one more GOP convert to the Atlas Shrugged trend. Rep. Pete Hoekstra (MI), the senior Republican on the House intelligence committee, just marveled on his Twitter page: "Who is John Galt? Will more Americans know of him in 3 to 6 months? I think so!"

hoekstra is a buffoon.

He thinks he's so damn clever doesn't he.
Maybe this is the GOP's youth reach out attempt as many >20 yr olds think Rand is the bees knees when they first read her.

Dammit. I meant LESS THAN 20, i.e. 16-20 year olds, not the 20+ crowd.

Will Wilkinson shot down the absurdity of this garbage:
Saying you're "going Galt" is basically an expression of profound narcissism. These basement-dwelling righties and impotent congressional counterparts are not Atlas. The world isn't going to crumble without them. There are millions of perfectly capable people willing to do their job if they don't want to do it.

umm, the John Galt Corp. is currently under indictment in New York for manslaughter charges relating to a fire at the Deutsch Bank Building.
The company was under contract to help dismantle the building as it had been rendered unsafe following the 9/11 attacks.
Firefighters arrived at the sight to put out a fire only to discover, too late, that the pipes had been turned off against code.

Who is John Galt?
He's a fictional character, Peter, just like Jack Bauer.
And just like those weapons of mass destruction that you and Man on Dog Santorum found. . .
Please. Just stop.

Jack Bauer Trivia: Chuck Norris was originally cast as the main character in 24, but was replaced by the producers when he managed to kill every terrorist and save the day in 12 minutes and 37 seconds.

At this point, they've clearly gotten their literary references mixed up and are confusing "going Galt" with "going tharne."
