Bachmann Blasts Obama's "Economic Marxism," Calls For "Orderly Revolution" To Save Freedom

Wow. Just plain wow. This past Wednesday, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) appeared on Sean Hannity's radio show, and sharply reiterated her calls for revolution in America, warning against the imminent dangers of tyranny under Barack Obama:

"We are headed down the lane of economic Marxism," said Bachmann. "More quickly, Sean, than anyone could have possibly imagined. It's difficult for us to even keep up with it day to day."

And then came this:

At this point the American people - it's like Thomas Jefferson said, a revolution every now and then is a good thing. We are at the point, Sean, of revolution. And by that, what I mean, an orderly revolution -- where the people of this country wake up get up and make a decision that this is not going to happen on their watch. It won't be our children and grandchildren that are in debt. It is we who are in debt, we who will be bankrupting this country, inside of ten years, if we don't get a grip. And we can't let the Democrats achieve their ends any longer.

"If Tim Geithner is successful under President Obama, and they move us to an international currency," Bachmann warned, "Then we have no hope of standing on our own as a sovereign nation with our own economic system. It's over. We can't do that."

Bachmann also declared: "Economics works equally in any country. Where freedom is tried, the people rejoice. But where tyranny is enforced upon the people, as Barack Obama is doing, the people suffer and mourn."

And there was this exchange:

Bachmann: Right now I'm a member of Congress. And I believe that my job here is to be a foreign correspondent, reporting from enemy lines. And people need to understand, this isn't a game. this isn't just a political talk show that's happening right now. This is our very freedom, and we have 230 years, a continuous link of freedom that every generation has ceded to the next generation. This may be the time when that link breaks. And I'm going to do everything I can, I know you are, to make sure that we keep that link secure. We cannot allow that link to break, because as Reagan said, America is the last great hope of mankind. where do we go--

Hannity: The last great hope of man on this Earth.

Bachmann: Do we get into an inner tube and float 90 miles to some free country? There is no free country for us to repair to. That's why it's up to us now. The founders gave everything they had to give us this freedom. Now it's up to us to give everything we can to make sure that our kids are free, too. It's that serious. I hate to be dramatic, but--

Hannity: It's not -- you are not overstating this case, Congresswoman, and you don't need to apologize for it. And as a matter of fact, it's refreshing. And I can tell you, all around this country, on 535 of the best radio stations in this country, people are saying "Amen," "Hallelujah", "where have you been?"

How does this fit with GOP sponsored bank nationalization ala Cantor?

Hopefully Bachmann takes up arms against the "enemy within"

LOL

user-pic

I would like Michelle Bachmann to be so patriotic that she takes the first bullet and becomes the first casualty in the "orderly revolution" she's inciting. Then obviously would come her cheer leader sean hatetity.

user-pic

But that's why her seditious talk is so dangerous...she's cultivating, along with Hannity, the ignorance that breeds violence. The house should reject her no ideas, no plans, call to violence. She can't seem to understand that she's in the majority...that the majority of Americans reject her and support Obama. She's too ignorant, crazy and stupid to see that she does not stand for Americans or the majority and Jefferson would have her gagged, medicated and put in a straight jacket.

But one only needs to watch "Right America Feeling Wronged" to see the ignorance Hannity has bred where you get cowboy wannabes saying none of the cities in America stand for 'real America'. God's country is only those who live in the country in small towns...you know...the minority and all the rest here in this nation don't count.

user-pic

Ignorance like yours is what enables obama and his henchmen and women to establish his dictatorship and impose his tyranny. She is absolutely right, and it is about time someone in congress stepped up and stated the truth. The true American people, those who understand freedom, liberty, and how easy they are too loose, will stand up one day and put a stop to this attempted over through of our free republic.

Abraham Lincoln would be ashamed that someone like you would be impersonating him. So, "minority and all the rest here in this nation don't count", displays your status among the people, that of an idiot and a fool, or one of a Communist and enemy of this great country. The slaves were in the minority, and I guess in your warped and empty mind, they did not count either.

Thomas Jefferson, would be right at her side, and would be calling for a revolution, something he did say was necessary to prevent just what is happening in our country today. People like you, need to acquire a true education, learn something about the history of this and other counties, and simply grow up.

Abraham Lincoln, one of the greatest republican presidents this country has is lucky enough to have had, would also be at the congresswoman's side, and encouraging the American people to at all cost, stop this attempt to destroy America. Come back when you have learned something, at which point you may have something intelligent to say.

Omegaman

user-pic

I would be more likely to believe that you have "something intelligent to say" if you would correct your incessant comma splicing, Omegaman.

user-pic
Bachmann:  I hate to be dramatic...

Liar!  Liar!  Pantsuit on fire!!!

user-pic

Yes you do. For what else does someone of your obvious intellect have to offer. You add greatly, to the volumes of valuable insights that democrats have to offer.

Omegaman

user-pic

I'M CAPTAIN KIRK!

user-pic

Where was St. Michelle's passion for fiscal responsibility when her party was running up the credit card? When Tom Delay was twisting arms in a House vote held open all night to pass the new Medicare bill without a way of paying for it, so Karl Rove could line up senior citizen votes for Bush?

The woman has no shame.

user-pic

"Where was St. Michelle's passion for fiscal responsibility when her party was running up the credit card? "

That's the kind of question a real journalist might ask her when she goes on TV. Too bad we only have craven MSM clowns.

user-pic

This woman, I use the term lightly, is beyond delusional and an embarrassment to women...Some one needs to throttle her for the good of mankind...and truth!

user-pic

Hypocrisy is rampant in the democrat party, as is socialism and ignorance. The amount of money obama and his gang are spending, can be described in several ways; more than equal to 2 million dollars a day since the birth of Jesus, or; more money than all the previous presidents, including President George W. Bush, have spent added together. And, obama is doing so in a short few months, as compared to centuries in the above examples. And unlike when President Bush was in office, not a single democrat is complaining.

Although terrorist are a danger to America, the democrats are a much more dangerous enemy of America and the freedom she has enjoyed for over 300 years.

I praise, and all Americans with any intelligence should as well, this congresswoman for her courage to tell the truth. A revolution will occur, the question is not if (like a volcano) but when, and how? If not an orderly revolution as the congresswomen calls for, it will be a violent on some day in the future that our children or theirs will have to fight. I believe it will be the former, and it will occur very soon.

Omegaman

user-pic

Sounds like a severe case of cranial rect_um inversion to me.

user-pic

Why are Republicans talking about how much Obama is spending after Bush wiped out a nice little budget surplus and doubled the National Debt? When Cheney flatly says, "Deficits don't matter."?

user-pic

Ms. Bachmann must be channeling the spirit of the late Congresswoman Helen ("Black Helicopters") Chenoweth...

user-pic

The late Rep. Chenoweth used to be my favorite Congressional loon. But Michele has taken over the top spot. This woman needs medication administered in a rubber room. But I hope she never stops talking.

user-pic

I keep asking myself how someone like Bachmann can get elected. What does it say about her constituents? I suspect that if Charles Manson ran as a Republican in her district he would get elected.

user-pic

Well, he was a violent, racist reactionary, so I suspect Manson was a Republican. That's half of it right there. He was just a tiny bit beyond Bachmann in that she has not (yet) called for "helter-skelter" - note that I said not yet.

user-pic

Its her only hope for getting re-elected. Now that the Republican party has alienated everyone except their radical base, they have no option except to double down on stupid.

user-pic

I don't think she's doubling down on anything. I think she's just this crazy and stupid. It's just that only now is the media paying attention to what she's really saying.

user-pic

Yup, yup, you betcha!

user-pic

Ted Bundy was a Young Republican.

user-pic

For the sake of bipartisanship and balance, I should point out that John Wayne Gacy was a Democratic precinct captain.

user-pic

And, for the sake of balance, the king and darth vader are war criminals on the lam responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocents.

user-pic

Add to the balance thing, one of the worlds biggest criminals was a republican, Dick Cheney.
Altho his crimes were only against humanity

user-pic

Charles Manson is a registered democrat, so could not run under the republican party.

Omegaman

user-pic

Do we get into an inner tube and float 90 miles to some free country? There is no free country for us to repair to.

What's this even mean? Is this some of ref to pulling a Reverse-Cuba?

user-pic

I guess she means Canada isn't a free country.
An innertube ride across the Detroit River doesn't seem like that big an obstacle to me. /s

user-pic

Better she should try an inner-tube ride down the Niagara River.

user-pic

Won't work...her district is completely within the Mississippi River watershed.

Now, if she were in MN7, representing Morehead, she could indeed float down the Red River to Canada.

She could even do it today, and check out the flooding...maybe ask Bobby J. to tag along and help keep those bureaucrats in line.

user-pic

Let Pawlenty in the craft, too. I'll give them all a paddle, even. They'll be going upriver, right?

user-pic

Of COURSE she doesn't think Canada is a free country. They've got SOCIALIZED medicine!

user-pic

Yes they do, and many more come over to this side of the previously mentioned "river", to get medical care they cannot get there, than those who go over to that side to see their bastion of freedom.

If America were to go down this destructive path, where would Americans go to get medical treatment?

This question will not need to be answered, as socialized medicine will not be allowed in the US. This is good news, even for those of you who cannot see how ignorant such a proposal is, and cannot look at those who have regrettably tried it, to figure it out.

If you want socialized medicine, simply go to Canada the next time you need a operation, and tell us all about it when you get back.

Omegaman

user-pic

Eric/Josh: Unless my computer's screwy, it looks like the audio for the link has been disabled... (Can anyone else hear the wacky Rep from MN?)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGn1ruk7Xcs

user-pic

Yep, just a screwy computer... Wow. Can't wait to hear this lunacy.

user-pic

Hey, let them bring it on. Socialism is no longer a bad word. The US has now proven that rampant capitalism leads to poverty, ill health, lack of affordable health care, rampant criminalization filling our prisons, legalized murder via the death penalty, unjustified war and all the other social ills one can name. There is a moral issue here, and Bachmann, Limbaugh and the rest of Republican scum are evil incarnate. It is time to rid the country--and the world--of their unspeakable vileness.

user-pic

Don't forget our traits of national laziness, corruption by unscrupulous business people all over this country and a sense of entitlement; yeah, yippee yea yea for capitalism; my aspiration is to become a millionaire by scamming and screwing over anyone I can.

user-pic

I'll see you on the front lines, liberal pussy...oh wait, you guys are deathly afraid of guns, what are you going to use against my M-1A, spitballs? Idiot.

user-pic

Yet, the socialist countries in this world are doing real great. Socialism, is a disease, and as with all diseases, needs to be destroyed by a cure. This congresswomen, has provided the people with that cure.

Just for your knowledge (this should fit as it appears your brains are all but void of any useful knowledge), the ignorant of this country, America is and has been a Republican form of government, guaranteed to each state of the union in the US Constitution. Of course, it is unlikely people like you have ever read this document, or can understand it if you have. The few of you who can manage to read and understand this document, it is your worst enemy, and something you despise, along with of course America herself.

Socialism has destroyed every country it has ever been tried in for millennium. If fully implemented, as obama and his dumb struck followers want, should be fully implemented, it would destroy America as well. This cannot be allowed to happen.

I praise you congresswomen, and anxiously await more people who truly understand freedom, and love America, to stand up and join you. I am shoulder to shoulder with you, and am working tirelessly to stop this invading enemy of our country. Thank you for your courage, love for liberty, and just plain common sense.

Omegaman

user-pic

What's this about ditching the dollar for an international currency? I saw a headline this morning suggesting that the Obama Administration issued a denial. Must we deny the resurgence of black helicopters, too?

user-pic

To a political paranoid, a denial just means they have something to hide.

user-pic

Neither Geitner nor Obama have ever favored a global currency. Bachman has always been happy to work with fiction, it's the tool's only tool.

user-pic

Oh ye, so ignorant. They certainly do support this. It is part of their overall plan to destroy America. Learn to read and understand what you read.

Her statements, are all completely true, unfortunately, but being a optimist, I truly believe the American people will put a stop to this outrageous and blatant attempt to install a tyrannical government in America. The true American people, will not allow it.

Keep going congresswomen, you have many more supporters than the ignorant on the other side could imagine.

Omegaman

user-pic

...just not enough to prevent an Obama landslide, thankfully. looks like its gonna be a long 8 years for ya, and the upcoming mids look like more commies a comin. so in the meantime, would you like some cheese to go with that...

user-pic

China wants to replace the dollar with a different international standard. Wouldn't make a difference in the U.S. but Bachmann has decided that Geithner wants us all to carry around yuan coins so she's introduced legislation to prevent that. She's insane. (And I believe she began life as an investment advisor. Amazing.)

user-pic

Thanks for filling me in. Wow.

user-pic

A) She should be institutionalized. Plain and simple. This lady needs help.

Or...

B) She simply doesn't care if she looks like a lunatic as long as it achieves her ends, which is to inspire a revolution of some sort, and hope all the lone nuts out there pick up a gun.

Or...

C) She only wants to be re-elected. As Hannity wants to keep making millions with his shows. And they don't care what monster they have to create, what flames they have to fan in order to continue their lifestyles - even if someone ends up getting burned.

So, she's either crazy, evil or greedy.

user-pic

She's an attention whore, plain and simple. The more she gets on TV and radio and called out here and on shows like Countdown, the crazier she's going to get.

user-pic

She was on Washington Journal on cspan yesterday morning. I don't understand why they would even consider giving that nutcase a voice. Fortunately, Keith Ellison followed her appearance, for a welcome dose of sanity.

user-pic

She gets air time because she's entertaining. I mean that seriously. She grabs an audience...look at how many comments there are from us, let alone the attention she draws from fellow wingers. That smells like money to a producer.

user-pic

Why does it have to be "Or" ... I think "And" would be more correct.

user-pic

Exactly what I was just about to say. Those don't have to be mutually exclusive options.

user-pic

In our household we've always assumed those who vote Republican are either "stupid, greedy, or immoral." Oddly enough, "greedy" is the only quality that actually has a seed of rationalness.

We'll be adding "crazy" to our list now, thank you.

user-pic

I fully disagree. I am convinced she is crazy, evil AND greedy!

user-pic

Talk about lunatics, Congress is full of them on the left. This congresswomen, is right on the mark, and makes much more sense than anything I have heard from those gang members of obama.

America is in grave danger from these lunatics in power, and it is going to take the larger part of the intelligent people in this country to stop it. But, it will be stopped. This movement, not unlike a circus but of course much, much more dangerous, will fail. And, when it does fail, there will be many liberal fools that will be held accountable.

obama's gang, prays on the unintelligent, ignorant, poorly educated (poorly educated by these liberal run government schools, as they have planned for decades), and those who just plain hate America and blame America for everything, as clinton has stated publicly she does.

This communist movement will be short lived, as the American people will not allow this country to become the next Russia. They will be stopped.

Omegaman

user-pic

Are there any TPM readers who are psychologists and can offer some insight into exactly what is wrong with this woman?

user-pic

LOL, this is too funny.

user-pic

I'm not a real doctor, but I do play one on the blogs. This chick is on psych meds and probably wears different colored toenail polish. The only thing that scares me worse than her, are the MN maniacs that voted for her.

user-pic

She's not on meds. If she was, she wouldn't be doing this.

user-pic

Maybe she built up a resistance over the years.

user-pic

Good one! :)

user-pic

I'm not a psychologist but I am a mental patient. Please don't lump her in with us. She's cuh-razy but she's not insane. She just likes the attention.

user-pic

Agreed. On or off my meds, I don't act like that and neither do most of the people I know who have been diagnosed with mental illnesses.

The ones who do would be a pain in the butt even if they weren't mentally ill.

user-pic

I believe a famous French psychologist called it "Le Batshitcrazy"

user-pic

If I'm being serious about it, playing armchair psychiatrist, I'd say she has one or more personality disorders. Narcissistic Personality Disorder seems most likely.

user-pic

I am a psychologist, although not that type of psychologist. Still, I'd have to concur with this diagnosis. Narcissism, and plenty of it, is evident.

user-pic

Is the vehicle driving the narcissism just a tangential matter? If a slightly different upbringing - keep the narcissism breeding ground but replace it with a hippie activist community - we'd find similar results? I can't help but think right wingnutery is somehow an enabling vehicle for her.

user-pic

I know some truly narcissistic hippie types, so in my experience, I'd say it's independent of the political environment that one grew up in.

What's troubling about it is that it's not necessarily amenable to treatment.

user-pic

While I basically understand the notion of narcissism, I've never understood how some narcissists can be so irrational in justifying whatever need they feel. For example, the person who rationalizes a long chain of improbable events to justify their emotional state of hurt, persecution, etc.

I'd assume that at some point the individual says: "wait, that makes no sense! it's just not feasible." Even despite the emotional need for it to be true. Guess not.

user-pic

Perhaps this will be too late of a response.

Do you have normal color vision? I have a very slight deficit that causes me to be unable to distinguish between certain greens and blues. Hold up something and someone with normal color vision will say "Obviously blue". Me? Green.

No amount of effort or thought on my part can make me see the same color that someone with normal color vision sees.

A narcissist isn't deliberately being irrational. He/she is just viewing the world the only way they can, and no amount of discussion is going to change that.

user-pic

And I would like to issue an apology to the truley psychotic everywhere. I'm sure you all bowl better than Michelle Bachmann!

user-pic

LMAO. Well, I bowl worse than Obama. But I'm a much nicer person than Bachman.

user-pic

It would take a team of mental health care providers, just to diagnose all the mental illnesses that are rampant in the democrat party and their clueless followers. This large team of experts would require many years of study to figure out such extraordinary long term afflictions.

To our detriment, however, they are in power, elected by like kind, and are steadily destroying the greatest and freest country in the world, each and every day.

Those of you who see this disease and it's dire results, do not despair, there is a large and growing daily movement, that will stop these infidels in their tracks, and regain America's independence and freedom, and throw these criminals to the ash bins of history, of the tyrants that they belong.

Freedom is on its way, and as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow, it will fall on these robber barons, tyrants, instigators, and fools like the freedom storm our founding fathers implemented upon the world so many years ago and with even more profound and lasting positive affects for all those people of the world who love freedom, and those who have yet to experience it.

The US Constitution, and at the core of this movement the morals and ideals expressed in the Declaration of Independence, with these super weapons ever ready by our side, this attempt at wiping out freedom and liberty in one fell swoop, will be put down, as have many in the history of mankind. Man, once enjoying freedom, does not give it up easily. Those who wish to wipe out freedom would be wise to keep this in mind.

Omegaman

user-pic

Yes. Nothing.

You, however, I have in my professional opinion, grave doubts.

Omegaman

user-pic

Karl Rove was right yesterday, they are going to try and turn Obama into Hawaian Fidel Castro.

They got fucked on stupid social issues, so they have nothing left to turn to for message, except for economic liberalism. I'm really angry they will end up giving economic liberalism a bad name.

user-pic

Don't be too hasty to pin that on Bachmann. The GOP has been hard at work on that front for the last 30 years.

user-pic

obama, needs no help from Rove on this account. He is a self made communist, his words and actions providing the most sufficient evidence of same.

Liberalism, also doesn't need any explanation, as it is evil by its very nature. It is, the necessity of diseases that rapture mankind for centuries, socialism and communism.

It has always been the ignorant and uneducated, which have followed such cults to their ultimate destruction. This one is no different. It too, will end in complete and utter defeat.

The question is, when will this radical and self destructive movement, driven by idiotic idealism, be stopped, and how much damage will it cause before it is. I say, it will be short but very damaging. But, the cure for this contagious disease, will be swift and unrelenting. It will also be soon.

Omegaman

user-pic

And "America is the last great hope of man on this Earth"? Huh?

user-pic

The "last great hope of mankind/last great hope of man on this earth" exchange is precious -- these two Reagan zealots misquoting the gipper, who actually referred to the "last best hope of man on earth" -- who in turn misquoted Abraham Lincoln, who in his 1862 speech to congress, referring to the Civil War then raging just outside of Washington, actually said "We shall nobly save, or meanly lose, the last best hope of earth."

So, in calling for an "orderly revolution" because her side lost a presidential election, Bachmann ignorantly quoted our greatest president, who was at the time fighting to preserve the Union against a rebellion precipitated by his being elected president. Delicious irony.

user-pic

This woman is a radical and needs to be removed from government.

user-pic

It's all fun and games until someone blows up a building.

This isn't funny any more.

user-pic

I agree. These people (Bachman, Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, O'Reilly et al) are attention whores who don't worry about the consequences as long as their egos get stroked. There are plenty of nutcases out there stupid enough to go into a Dem HQ somewhere or a McDonald's in a hip-hop urban setting with one of their prized automatic weapons and start shooting.

user-pic

Unfortunately, one can only be jailed if one is advocating the VIOLENT overthrow of the government. She is not that stupid (that crazy, maybe, but not that stupid). What bothers me is that there are people out there who will take what she said one step further.

user-pic

So Bachmann is calling for the overthrow of our democratically elected government?

Too bad our President has plans to close down Gitmo because if ever there were "enemy combatant" language, this is it.

Someone please send her an innertube and a waterproof map.

PEACE

user-pic

Can we arrest these traitors for plotting and inciting treason? Seriously, we arrest people for pot and we leave these people free? If we're going to police states of mind, those spreading the meme that treason is good are far more a menace than those spreading an herb whose greatest danger to the state is that it might produce a few more pacifists among draft-age kids.

It's time we give the treasonous right the oppression they ask for.

user-pic

The treason you speak of, is being committed by your savor, obama and not the congresswomen. Our first president, and those who supported him in his battle for freedom from the socialist Great Briton, was called traitors by the ignorant. Good thing we did not listen to them!

Only someone stricken with the devastating disease of liberalism, would shout for the arrest of someone who exercises her God given right to speak freely, a right specifically protected in the US Constitution. Hitler, Stalin, and many other dictators of the past, of whom obama is following, did the same thing.

Learn something in your life, and become useful instead of destructive. Go read the documents of our founding, and if you cannot understand them, see if you can find somebody in your small realm of life that is smart enough to explain them to you.

Omegaman

user-pic

"Economic Marxism." Way to be crazy AND redundant, Congresswoman Bachmann.

user-pic

The whole thing resembles some SNL parody sketch.

If only there weren't people out there with lots of guns, itchy trigger fingers, and mindless subservience to rightist Truthspeak. (Even, sigh, in Minnesota, apparently.)

And then there's Hannity: "you are not overstating this case. . . ." Mein Gott.

user-pic

"orderly revolution"? Wasnt that what happen din November? We threw out a great majority of the GOP after they ran the country into the ground. Unfortunately the people of Minnesota weren't smart enough to throw Michele Bachmann out too.

user-pic

There were no unemployment rates as high as 10% in this country during the years of President George W. Bush, as there are ever increasingly now. There were no bank failures during the first six years of his presidency, as there have been since the democrats, elected by the ignorant, were put into power in 2006.

Learn something about your country, and its history, before you speak and put your foot in your mouth. This seems to be a very common trait among those of your ilk.

Omegaman

user-pic

Speaking of "Freedom" How is that FISA thing working out? What about extra-ordinary renditions? The executive assassination ring? Spying on journalists? Indefinite Detention?

Bush actually said "If this were a dictatorship this would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator" then put all those things in place. So who is Michelle only concerned now when the "anti-freedom" actions consist of stabilizing the financial markets and providing universal health care?

user-pic

Back in the 50's, when I was a kid, Communist Party officials were simply by dint of their positions found guilty of "conspiracy to overthrow the government of the United States by force and violence" and some of them did hard time for it (One them had a kid who was my best friend in the 5th grade.)

My father, who had been a CPUSA member from 1933 to 1943 lost his school-teaching job (although for us it worked out...he turned out to be a pretty good businessman!); I think his real offense was helping to organize the AFT.

Why is no one in the MSM or the Congress calling this fruitcake out...she is advocating armed revolution on national TV...Jefferson notwithstanding, we had a war over this and the issue was settled. Come to think of it, it's tie to call my congressman.

user-pic

Olbermann has called her out before, as well as others like Beck who've said similar things, and I'm sure he will again tonight.

user-pic

What the hell is an "orderly revolution?" "...reporting from enemy lines..."? WTF?

This woman is dangerous...wonder if she'll step up and take responsibility when the next Tim McVeigh blows up a federal building to stop all this creeping Maxism.

Nah, we all know she won't.

user-pic

"Orderly revolution" is plausible deniability when somebody out there takes her seriously. "Oh, of course I didn't mean violence!"

user-pic

"What the hell is an "orderly revolution?"

Impeaching the President for lying about a blow job?

Sending letters to Democrats to tell them voting days has been changed to Wednesday?

user-pic

Anybody who sees, and proposes to stop this enemy of America, the one called hussen obama, is dangerous to those who blindly and ignorantly follow this cult leader. You are right, she and the many, many like her, are very dangerous to people like you, who wish to destroy this most wonderful country, as they should be.

Your "leader" will fail in his attempt to destroy America. And, it will be her and people of like intelligent mind, that will be the ones who ensure it.

It appears, that a few of the brain dead are at least someone smart enough to see the danger of freedom to their warped way of thinking. This is the first step toward being cured. Stay tuned, more help is on the way.

Omegaman

user-pic

I suggest a regimen of 75mg clozapine daily.

C

user-pic

you think a regiment will be enough?

i think we should have a couple of divisions or maybe a whole army of clozapine!

oh, regimen, well the comment still stands.

user-pic

Would someone please get this woman some psychiatric assistance? She really needs to be evaluated.

Peace!

user-pic

The modern day GOP is the best comedic troupe in the business hands-down. The GOP "Fudge-it" Budget Blueprint sketch and the latest episode of RNC Chairman Steele are hilarious, but Michelle Bachmann is just taking it to a whole new level.

user-pic

If there has to be a wingnut making these claims, I'm glad it's Bachmann.

I wonder what the Congressional Dems are thinking though - do they smack her down, or just let her keep ranting. If they smack her down, she'll just get more publicity for her rantings. Now that might not necessarily be a bad thing because she'll be all over the television ranting like a loon - it will make the Republican party seem even more marginalized and fringe, however what happens if the MSM wants to give any credence to her lunacy?

user-pic

The same questions have crossed my mind. I nearly e-mailed my congresswoman to ask Bachmann be censured, but there again I figured it would be a huge waste of time when there are so many important issues to address. Loonies like Bachmann and Palin are dangerous in a way, in the sense that Bush 43's reelection proved the US is not immune to electing confirmed Religiously bigoted wing-nuts. But those two women are such lunatics that they might actually be beyond dangerous. Hard to tell...

user-pic

tyranny???

That was my first thought.

Perhaps we should send her on a fact-finding mission to, say, Uzbekistan. I'm thinking a five year mission would let her more fully comprehend the meaning of "tyranny" once she starts spouting off over there.

user-pic

I'm thinking send her to do a fact-finding mission on the border of North Korea and pay a Chinese "guide" to take her over the border without her knowing about it. Then she can be North Korea's problem for a while.

user-pic

Try this on for size: "All power to the Soviets of preachers and bond salesmen!"

Sequels suck.

user-pic

As crazy as Bachmann may be,in the current context, these comments should not just be laughed off. Unfortunately, this rhetoric reflects a significant but potentially dangerous segment of the population.

In the early 1990s, many people found the delusions and rhetoric of the militia movement hard to take seriously.

Until the Oklahoma City bombing.

There's something happening here, and we'd better pay attention.

user-pic

Yes indeed.

These comments are so ludicrous that it's easy to simply dismiss them, but she's advocating danger.

And whackjobs all over the country might just be inspired.

user-pic

Bachman is just confused. I called her office insisting that we needed "less useful idiots" in congress. I should have said "fewer". Sorry about that.

user-pic

I'm no big fan of Kay Bailey Hutchinson, Olympia Snow, and Susan Collins, but they must just cringe when they look at or think of Sarah Palin and this birdbrain getting all the airtime that they do. And Millicent Fenwick must be spinning in her grave.

I mean really, Minnesota, just how hard would it have been to elect Elwyn Tinklenberg?

user-pic

(With apologies to birds.)

"Nitwit" or "numbskull" are better.

user-pic

As a Minnesotan that doesn't live in the 6th Congressional District, I am tired of being lumped in with those nutjobs.

user-pic

Seconded.

user-pic

Apologies, I don't blame you. I just wasn't sure precisely which places within in her district were responsible for electing this beast. Plus, Minnesota did elect Pawlenty so there.

user-pic

Can't you all just redistrict her out of a safe district?

user-pic

If they cringe, then they need to step in front of a mike and condemn this shit. Enough righteous indignation in the comfort and privacy of one's home.

Ms. Bachman and other republicans have been left with complaining about the deficit. They act as though they do not remember that Ronald Reagan, Geroge H. W. Bush and now G.W. Bush literally created the national debt which was approximately $800,000,000 when President Jimmie Carter left office. The debt would have long since have been paid off if Mr. Carter had won a second term and the energy policy that he started would have left us energy independent. John Dean wrote a book about republicans lack of conscience; it is quite evident to any impartial amateur historian who looks at the lies they have told and continue telling about themselves and about Democrats. The U.S. was blessed by the election of President Obama; all good citizens should support him in his efforts to turn this country around and make it work for all, and his effort to turn it into a participant in a peaceful world rather than into a rogue state causing economic and military terrorism as the republicans have done during the past three republican administrations.

user-pic

You are spot on. Where were these clowns for prior 8 years as Bush blew the federal debt from $5.6 to $10.3 trillion. Sure, we need stupid Republicans clamoring for more of those tax cuts as a solution; they have really worked well, haven't they.

user-pic

Yeegads! Hannity and this nitwit Bachmann discussing economics is about as enlightening as the Pope picking brackets for the NCAA men's final. Newsworthy? Yes, but only in the way the talking horse or the dancing goat is newsworthy. It's just not expected to be in their range of talents.

What's next? Maybe Mitch McConnell preaching about nuclear physics? Or how about Tom Delay and Phil Graham pairing up to explain ethics in government? Douglas Feith to explain anything having to do with the real world? Hannity just might be on to something here.

user-pic

If she expects to overthrow the government, she will need a lot of friends with weapons to help out. That certainly will be an interesting development in many communities.

I wonder she plans to have this revolution televised. If so, her pearls would look fabulous on top of a Brown shirt.

user-pic

Think Rep. Bachmann knows this quote too? :

"He who knows nothing is closer to the truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors." ~ Thomas Jefferson.

It's fascinating to see how sordid Michelle Bachmann's thoughts are. I thought she was just a typical wingnut, but her delusions seem to extend beyond that.

user-pic

Force her into the sunlight of the MSM. Have Dems call her out - make her newsworthy so that Boehner and Cantor have to answer questions about her. Either they defend her, to which they are seen as just as ridiculous or they dismiss her and she's further marginalized.

Let her loony rantings be seen as representation of the GOP.

I wish she'd do the Glenn Beck show - They'd feed off of each other and try to one up each other as to who can say the more outrageous, ridiculous things.

user-pic

The most likely outcome of the meeting of those two "minds" would be reminiscent of the 'sploding head scenes in the movie Scanners.

user-pic

Now, I understand Obama said we do not waterboard anymore but damn if Bachmann couldn't use one or two.

user-pic

Ignorance is bliss. And, you are one of the most blissful I have read on here to date.

Go read the US Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. Read about the history of the US, and learn before you speak.

If you would spend just half the time you do writing uneducated statements at learning something, you would be a much better and useful human being. Our founding fathers did exactly what you condemn her for doing and much more, and thank God they did. The ignorant of their time also claimed what they were doing was "not a good thing". I believe the result of what they said and did is self evident in the greatest and most free country in the world, in which they began with their "treason".

An elected official, especially those in congress, are obliged to speak up when they see their country, that they swore to preserve and protect, in danger from any source, within or without. Our country is certainly in grave danger from the sweeping socialist movement attack from within. She is simply doing her job, and rather brilliantly I might add.

True Americans, are those who not only are able to see the danger, but have the guts to warn the public of the danger. They do not consist of, people like you who blindly and stupidly follow a serpent into the darkness of despotism.

One day, you or those that follow you, will be thanking and praising her and people like her for saving the republic. There is a reason the US Constitution guarantees to every state in the union a republican form of government, rather than a democratic one, and you are seeing the reason unfold before your very eyes.

Watch, listen, and learn. If you have even the smallest amount of intelligence, any significant true education, even the slightest amount of common sense, you will learn from what you are now experiencing. You will wake up from the dream that the liberal run government school you likely attended put you. You will see reality, rather than a hopeless infertile, impossible dream.

The results of many years of brain washing in the liberal government run schools, is just now showing us the results. This country has far too many high school graduates, who cannot even fill out a job application by themselves., too many, "young adults", who are lost when it comes from distinguishing right from wrong. And too many, who have never learned about the founding of their country, being taught instead the evils of the great empire called America. All too many people who are now, and who have been taught to be, entirely dependent on the government for all that sustain them. Yes, we now see in obama, the results of these many years of deprivation of the human mind, and we all will pay for it in the end.

But, all is not lost as there are more people in this country, who are not so programmed and are very awake and aware of what is going on. They will not stand by and watch their country destroyed. Those who do know something about freedom, about liberty, about self dependence, those will stand up to stop this great disease that has been spread so broadly across this nation and others.

To those who are concerned, do not be. This attempted usurpation of our freedom, our independence, our very way of life, will fail. The cure will come sooner and with greater influence then many can imagine. And, it will come soon.

The rest of the Republican members of Congress, especially the leadership, should be asked whether they support her call for a revolution and very strong suggestion of armed insurrection.

user-pic

WHAT???! Is this wacco taking up where Palin left off....???? Haven't we already had a "revolution".....called an election....where the PEOPLE decided to get rid of the recent monarchy and RETRIEVE OUR FREEDOMS. She doesn't even listen to the statements that Geithner, Obama, etc have made rejecting world currency and she goes off on some trumped up bandwagon. I was born in MN and know this is not the true representation of those residents. It saddens me that we now seem to have a republican party that has sunk to this level of hipocracy, fear mongering (not fact mongering) and blatant attempts to inject faith based directives into the government.

user-pic

She just wants to steal more money from the working middle class. When April 15th rolls around all the wage eraners of this country should just ignore filing their income tax. Then she would have the revolution she wants.

user-pic

Great idea not filing income taxes, but for one "tiny" problem... the IRS will come after US--the working middle class--for nonpayment of taxes. Besides, many of us have already filed to get our refunds.

user-pic

You'll notice I said all. I don't see a way to get the attention of Washington otherwise.

You saw the article by Simon Johnson in the Atlantic Josh referred us to I hope. Since 2000 earnings on 401K has been flat while Wall St was raking in all the dough. Someone has to do something to get the attention of the idiots in Washington running things. We are headed for a very bad fall. The level of the screwup that has occurred demands that those who were running things who brought it about get canned. No such thing is happeneing and because of that the problems we have will only get worse. This is an automatic.

user-pic

This cooz knows as much about Marx as she does the Constitution.

user-pic

Sedition.

What is good for the goose is good for the gander. Every conservative who accused Dems of treason for criticizing the government during the Iraq war should then consent to prosecuting Bachmann under the Smith Act of 1940, which says it is illegal to:

"knowingly or willfully advocate, abet, advise or teach the duty, necessity, desirability or propriety of overthrowing the Government of the United States or of any State by force or violence, or for anyone to organize any association which teaches, advises or encourages such an overthrow, or for anyone to become a member of or to affiliate with any such association.

user-pic

The operative words there are "by force or violence." Bachmann is sidestepping that by calling for "an orderly revolution."

Never mind that we already had an "orderly revolution" last November 4th: it's called an election, and her side was thrown out on its tuchas.

Even though this seems crazy, there may be a point to it. There is something called the "Overton Window" created by Joe Overton, formerly of the Mackinaw Center of Public Policy (a rightwing thinktank).

The premise is the more crazier you present your policy positions, the farther you will move down the line to actually get these positions (I would suspect, as long as you have power). Unfortunately, I think this "window" has worked since the groundwork for what occurred under Reagan, Bush and Bush II started long before them with McCarthy and Goldwater.

So, this might be a corollary, that when you are out of power, you say the craziest things about your opponent to try to prevent the "Window" from moving to the left.

I don't read that as saying the presentations need to be, or should be crazy, just as saying that going beyond what was previously considered extreme made the old extremes seem more moderate by comparison.

It's a good argument as to why progressives should be loudly vocal in pushing for a progressive agenda. Otherwise, Obama is inevitably going to be pulled rightward when he is considering policy options. I think it's not so much that we need to remind Obama of what the progressive position on any given issue is, but that we need to be sure that position is part of the mainstream discourse so that the general public is reminded that it is out there, and that it is part of the full range of positions they consider when they're looking for the middle of the spectrum.

user-pic

What is the progressive position? I am confused about what it really is, I hear so many differing opinions. Where can I find a credible source to study the progressive agenda? Thanks

user-pic

Michele, there was an orderly revolution last November, remember? Nov.4, 2008: Obama was elected by a 46 to 54% margin. Wake up Michele, you Republicans were voted out in an orderly manner after eight disastrous years of leadership... Did you forget your meds again or are you overdosing?

user-pic

Nothing like having a domestic terrorist in Congress.

user-pic

Bachman, keep it up, tell us your plans so that the Secret Service and the FBI will be able to designate you and Hannity as an enemy combatants. This woman need to go to jail for threats to our country and leaders. She will eventually go over the line and be the first to land in the big house.
