Cantor Declines To Reiterate Criticism Of Rush

So is House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) going to criticize Rush Limbaugh, or not?

Earlier today, Rush told Greg Sargent that Cantor's comments on ABC's This Week, saying that neither he nor other Republicans want President Obama to fail, was in fact in agreement with Rush on the policy issues, and had been distorted by ABC.

So we asked Cantor's office for clarification -- and they're not giving a real answer to it.

Instead, Cantor press secretary Brad Dayspring is daring the Democrats to go talk to Rush themselves:

If Robert Gibbs is worried about the policies Rush Limbaugh talks about on his show, he should call into the show- I'm sure Rush would welcome it. In the meantime, if Mr. Gibbs and the Administration want to focus on creating jobs and helping the Middle Class deal with an economy in recession, they should call Eric Cantor and work with us on the these very real problems.

After seeing what happened to Michael Steele, who can blame Cantor for not wanting to be caught criticizing the great leader?

Based on the way gibbs smacked down insanity during the election, I am guessing that at the right time and for the right reason, there will be a call from gibbs to lush. Just watch. It will be fun.

All these people know is bitch slap, and now they're doing it to themselves. Could they look any weaker? Not likely.

BTW: anybody else see wingnut musical drama fanboy Mark Steyn's blithely racist take on the Limbaugh/Steele smackdown?
Fun stuff:

In two brief soundbites, Mr. Steele has managed to suggest to his own party base that he has a lazy disposition that reflexively shares the liberal biases, and to allow the wider world to portray him as a craven squish. This is not encouraging. At the very minimum, he does not appear ready for primetime.

Nice. I'm betting Rush was careful to not say anything about Steele that could have opened him to charges of racism. He-Man Steyn wants to go one better than Rush though, says what the hell, and and gleefully unloads with "who's idea was it to allow this lazy negro closet liberal (and maybe a closet "squish" too!) to take charge of our glorious party?" Now that's some hard-chargin' conservatism we all can believe in.

The Dems should be congradulated we have successfully made Rush Limbaugh the leader and chief of the Republican Party. Now all we need to do is to convince him to support his run to be their president, that is after he takes off his white robe and hood.

user-pic

Cantor is a yellow belly. Is he the best the Republican party could drum up as a majority whip?He just got whipped by Rush Limbaugh.

The chances of finding a Republican with enough backbone or integrity to stand up to Limbaugh are as bad as getting Al Franken to write another book titled "Rush Limbaugh is a Tall Muscular Genius"

RUSH FOR TREASON PRESIDENT OF THE UN-AMERICAN DIT-TO HEADS!!!!

user-pic

Rush doesn't want Obama to fail. He just wants him to do exactly the opposite of what he had planned on doing. Then he might actually do a good job in the White House. Check out http://www.SockPoliticians.com

heh,

Please, Josh, get that ugly face off the front page. You could have a fundraiser. Highest contributor gets credit for removing Rush's face with a big Thank You banner right at the top. Whaddaya say? I'm in for Fifty...

Cantor is stuck. He would like to pretend to be an American but if he opens his peep the fascist will call him names on the radio

user-pic

It's easy: Just ask any Repub any crazy crap that Rush spewed today and ask them to repudiate it. They won't. It's that easy. This makes his vial baloney stick to GOP congressman. This is too much fun!

user-pic

C'mon you guys, lay off. Eric is just a scared little kitty who sees the Great Corpulent One bearing down on him.

user-pic

I think this is all fundraising. As soon as these guys criticize Rush, someone on the extreme right shows them the stats on how much money they make from Rush, they immediately recant.

Wonder if this could be absolutely proven?

user-pic

I can see where he's coming from. I'd hate to be on the wrong side of Rush and his handfuls of Viagra.

user-pic

Rumor has it that the Viagra is to get it big enough for Rush to find it so he can take a leak.

user-pic

This just in: Rush is migrating down to Scammon's lagoon for mating season.

I am amazed by the sheer stupidity of Republican "leaders." The sky of the world is falling. Worldwide industrial output and trade is falling at a rate that one observer noted "makes the Great Depression appear 'leisurely.'" Who in their right mind could even imagine that a dopehead Nazi who cited Joseph Stalin in his speech to CPAC - look at the transcript from the great Rushian Limbowski - has any qualification to save the world?

In 1932, they could have hired Donald Duck.

Getting more and more surreal by the day. Truly amazing. Yeah, playing to the hardcore nutcase faction of the right-wing worked SO well for McCain/Palin. And they're trying it again. Uh...okay. Have at it. Relegate yourselves even further out to the fringes. Be my guest.
What worries me is they are getting these heavily armed thugs riled up and out for blood. Just a matter of time one of the gets close. Only question is how close. This scares me more than any economic or social issue. This is what keeps me up at nights.

I would bet money that there is only one elected Republican who could criticize The Leader and not regret it.

The man I am thinking of is in a major office now, has a political future and is not about to retire.

He does not need the party at all but the party needs him.

Can you guess who I am thinking of ?

Hint : he definitely has more testosterone than The Leader.

user-pic

What else can the GOP do? They've burned all bridges to reality or moderation. It completes a cycle.

This time around, the GOP have become Jonestown with Limbaugh passing out the coolaid.

user-pic

I really do think we're in for some mean, angry white guys doing stupid stuff.

Noticed a link to this "crisis garden" web site on a right wing blog I chcked in on the other day:

http://www.survivalseedbank.com/

I love the chubby talking haircuts like Beck, Hannity et. al premptively expressing empathy for predicted innocent "rugged individuals" getting so pissed at the taxes paid by less than 5% of citizens on only their income over a quarter mil incrementally going back to what they were under Reagan going into full violent resistance against the government.

This is unabashedly fomenting domestic unrest. And there are plenty of "backlashers" simply waiting until Obama has been in office for some prefunctory short period (6-9 months?)after which the radio talkers all come to a "consensus" that the badness that has enveloped the country is all Obama's fault and the nations survival is at stake.

Their stupidity and hypocrisy would be funny if not so dangerously violent and harmful to the fabric of society.

user-pic

One thing we have going for us is that unlike the pre-civil rights act south and unlike the Iraq war and the closed door financial crises bailout planning meetings, there will likely be plenty of video cameras rolling when these stupid angry people cease being able to contain their rage. And we'll get to cringe at it right up there on YouTube.

user-pic

All Cantor's ascendancy proves is that Republicans seem to actually NEED someone with a smirk. With Bush gone, he's the best they could come up with.

user-pic

Cantor to recant?

user-pic

Kiss the Ring, Eric... or you're gonna be in Brooklyn doing protection money pickups up and down the block, and rolled up rug transportation everyday for the next month...

user-pic

Imagine that. Cantor turns out to be just as weasely as he looks. Another republican winner!
