Gibbs Mocks House GOP 'Budget': More Windmill Pictures Than Numbers
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs had some fun with the House Republicans' detail-free budget alternative during his on-camera briefing with reporters today:
QUESTION: ... House Republicans unveiled what they described today as their alternative to the president's budget. I wonder if anyone here has had a chance to brief you on that on -- if you're aware that it doesn't actually contain any numbers.GIBBS: I did -- I -- it took me several minutes to read it. (LAUGHTER) I will note that ... there's one more picture of a windmill than there is of a chart of numbers. There's -- just for your knowledge, there's exactly one picture of a windmill.
Gibbs isn't telling the whole truth here. There are actually three charts in the House GOP plan, none of which deal with the House GOP plan -- the charts reflect only external estimates of the Democratic budget.
What Gibbs should have said is that there are more pictures of cute kids (see p. 6, p. 17) and quotes from British people (see p.7) in the GOP plan than there are charts of numbers.

I love the way Gibbs handles the press and the G.O.P.
Gibbs often exposes the intellectual bankruptcy among the MSM and the GOP, with a smile and a quote.
The MSM jerks are so pissed they're actually making up "laughing smear" stories against Obama...its hilarious.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. That sounded defensive to me and Alex Castellano. I think Gibbs is a one termer.
And I am also profoundly mentally retarded.

Financial crisis aside, I'm really liking the way things are going.
It still echoes through my noggin that the folks in charge are adults and the people kicked out were the troglodyte offspring of cave-men.
The GOP seem to be doing it all themselves too. What with Michael Steele embarrassing himself strategically, Palin continuing to thieve oxygen and house party picture book budgets. Were they coloured in with crayon?

So pictures are worth a 1000 words. What do those wonderful pictures detail for us as the right way to do a budget?
Does every American get a stimulus puppy? Do our communities get shiny, red fire engines? Does every classroom get a new flag to hang up front by the door? Do doctors and nurses get neat new stethoscopes and thermometers? And of course the coal companies must be getting nifty steam shovels.
Now we are getting somewhere, helping the country grow stronger and having fun too.

Sometimes I leave work beat and in a pissy mood. It always raises my spirits when a radio reporter starts a story with "Today President Obama...."
I listen to NPR, so the reporting tends to be a bit higher caliber than typical MSM. Still, it doesn't matter so much what they say about him as it does that they remind me who my country has as a president.
