Jindal Calls Limbaugh A "Great Leader" For Conservatives, Is Glad Steele Apologized
Check out this excerpt from Bobby Jindal's appearance last night on Larry King Live. Jindal was asked about Rush Limbaugh's declarations of wanting President Obama to fail. He not only couldn't bring himself to repudiate Rush's remarks, but also praised Rush as a "great leader for conservatives" -- and he said he was glad that Michael Steele had apologized for taking a shot at him:
King: All right, governor, here was Rush Limbaugh at this weekend's CPAC Conference. Watch.
Rush Limbaugh: What is so strange about being honest and saying I want Barack Obama to fail if his mission is to restructure and reform this country so that capitalism and individual liberty are not its foundation? Why would I want that to succeed?
King: Governor, do you think people are thinking about capitalism now or are they thinking about problems?
Jindal: Look, clearly, the American people are worried about paying their mortgages, keeping their jobs and paying their health care bills. I think Rush is a great leader for conservatives. I think he articulates what a lot of people are concerned about.
King: Do you want him [Obama] to fail?
Jindal: I don't want those policies to be adopted. I want my country to succeed, but I don't want policies to be adopted.
King: What if the policies work?
Jindal: Well, again...
King: What if they work?
Jindal: This is where we have a fundamental disagreement. I don't think it's going work ... to spend in excess of our revenues.
Jindal also responded to Michael Steele's recent flap about Limbaugh: "I'm glad he apologized. I think the chairman is a breath of fresh air for the party. As I said before, I think Rush is a leader for many conservatives and says things that people are concerned about."

Just Jindal paying back his sugar daddy (Rush).
I am having visions of a big large Rush temple at the home of Mr & Mrs Jindal ...

Very good ! You mean The Leader is the Republican Ganesha.
Can someone clever use photoshop to make a Republican Ganesha with the head of The Leader ? Our Republican friends can bow down before HIm.
Too bad, really, because Ganesha is a wonderful god.

Then where in the f*ck were you the last 8 years? Why did you accept billions in hurricane relief if it was in excess of revenues? These f'n criminals are such hypocrites. Now that they are out of power, they see the light concerning spending? Especially when it helps the american people as opposed to the super rich? Give me a break, I hope they all rot in Hell.

Conservatives see themselves as the party of manly men - how does this ass kissing of Limbaugh and/or begging forgiveness play with them?
I think if somebody came forth and told Rush to STFU in plain terms and stood his ground that you might actually be looking at the next GOP leader. I mean Rush gets 20M listeners a week, those are not 20 million different people, it's just a trick he uses whereby he adds up his quarter hour ratings over the week. He's on air 3 hours a day, five days a week and since ratings are taken every quarter hour it means he has about 350,000 folks listening to him at any one quarter hour. I don't think there would be too many casual Limbaugh listeners, but for the sake of argument what would you set his total audience at - maybe 2M different people tune in to his show for various lengths over a week.

it has always amused me that little guys like hannity and er, "big" guys like rush like to talk about "liberal pansies" and think of conservatives as "manly men."
methinks she doth protest too much.
maybe they can come to detroit, and tell all of the factory workers what liberal pansies they all are, and impress upon us unwashed masses the magnitude of their imagined manliness.
this fairy tale needs to be buried right alongside the one about "fiscal responsibility."
we'd be happy to help.

The great thing about all this abject cringing, slavish adoration, and servile obsequiousness by GOP elected officials is that it's going to inflate Rush's already gargantuan ego beyond all sustainable limits. When you overinflate gasbags they will inevitably burst, and if the gas is flammable the results can be spectacular.
Which means we can count on Rush overreaching himself in a wonderfully humiliating and self-destructive way within the next year. Remember: hubris always wins, and it always destroys. To a large extent that is what did in Bush and his gang of thieves and incompetents, to the extreme detriment of the GOP when election time came around.

It was especially interesting to see the video of Rush doing his radio show while Phil Gingrey called in to kiss his ass. The look of utter contempt and disgust on Rush's face was priceless - you could see he was thinking "my god, this guy is such a pathetic loser..." No doubt this kind of crap reinforces his feeling of superiority over not only liberals but Republican politicians as well.

Rush's ego must be ballooning with all the desperate politicians kissing his ass...I predict a huge explosion -- eventually. He's not a nice person, and a downright dangerous demagogue.
I'm not terribly religious, but here's what Proverbs 16t:18 has to say:
"Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before the fall."
True back then and true now.

The best part is that Rush doesn't want to be leader - he wants his radio show and his dittoheads and his $500M contract. He doesn't want this spotlight, this microscope. He has his skeletons, his pill addiction, his sex vacations, his racist and sexist comments - now you have the RNC chairman praising him for his voice and leadership and one of the 2012 contenders and GOP rising stars in Bobby Jindal calling him a leader.
Being a leader comes with responsibilities Rush doesn't want - he just doesn't know how to get out of this situation. I'm betting he'll have a health scare, real or faked, that will be blamed on the "Party of Limbaugh" campaign to try and get him sympathy and the microscope off of him.

Just amazing! Need to listen to Rush Tuesday to see how the maestro reacts to the brown-nosing. WNYC-FM, the NY NPR station, just run a talk show wherein a Republican state senator dutifully said Steele is the R leader, but most calls from the rank and file said El Rushbo is their leader! I love it.

Does anybody really believe there's another explanation for the unmarried Limbaugh to be returning from the Dominican Republic with a half-full bottle of Viagra? I mean, maybe Larry Craig's troubles are all just due to his having a wide stance after all, but does anybody really believe that?

Tell us more about El Rushbo and the sex vacations. It's well known that he's many times divorced and has some nominal liaison with some Palm Beach realtor whom he says sometimes comes by his mansion. But would be amazing if this ranter against femiNazis et. al. had some "Emperors Club" of his own or were gay...Don't forget, he had a private White House lunch with 43 a week before the Inauguration, had a call from him on the show and often had Cheney on as a sycophantic guest.

It is befitting his new status as leader.
He NEEDS to run and learn how to be a leader and come up with solutions for problems outside his big fat head.
I think we should draft a rush for senator movement.
That would scare the crap out of him, he'd finally have to work and be responsible!!!

What bothers me most is how shrewd Rush is. Now that he is being given respect as the de-facto leader of the party, he comes out at the convention with a speech that sounds measured and uncharacteristically level-headed. I even found myself agreeing with him at times, e.g. on giving kids real boundaries. This way he capitalizes on American amnesia about all the assinine things he's said for years. His strategy is to make himself palatable to a wider audience. Next step? Senator?

Louisiana, Kentucky, Mississippi--all these states are on the lowest rungs of the ladder when it comes to income and contributing to the federal treasury, but on the high end per capita when it comes to distributing federal largesse. Does is occur to the pious citizens of these states that the "principles" and "values" they hold so dear don't work? They are drags on the economy, drags on progress, and now, losers on the political scene. Yet they are happy to point fingers at the Blue States and condemn them for their liberal ways, sins, and quest to promote the general welfare.

Rush made an interesting analogy in his CPAC speech I would like to point out. He explained his wishing for Obama to fail in a classic sports analogy. He spoke of being a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and that at the end of the Super Bowl when Kurt Warner, quarterback for the opposing Arizona Cardinals, had the ball with 15 seconds left Rush hoped Warner would fail.
I think this important to note for two points. First we already played the proverbial big game - the election - and Obama won. Therefore Rush calling for Obama's failure is like wanting Warner to get hurt in the off-season just because he beat your team. Second, in this game the winning quarterback becomes your quarterback, which makes Rush's hoping for Obama to fail more egregious because now its no longer about the good of the team but more about Rush's preferences.
For Rush (and most of the Republicans) winning is the most important thing. Winning is the be-all end-all. The greater good of America be damned. His views highlight the divide, and the danger, of those who follow Rush - winning at any cost often costs more than a team can afford.

I am amazed by the sheer stupidity of Republican "leaders." The sky of the world is falling. Worldwide industrial output and trade is falling at a rate that one observer noted "makes the Great Depression appear 'leisurely.'" Who in their right mind could even imagine that a dopehead Nazi who cited Joseph Stalin in his speech to CPAC - look at the transcript from the great Rushian Limbowski - has any qualification to save the world?
In 1932, they could have hired Donald Duck.

I think the only response to Rush Limbaugh should be, "Rush Limbaugh? Rush Limbaugh? You listen to Rush Limbaugh? Rush LIMBAUGH? What office does Rush Limbaugh hold? What resume does Rush Limbaugh have in government? You listen to, let me get this straight--Rush Limbaugh? The drug-addicted mattress and vitamin seller from the radio?"
Disbelief and scorn are the only things with which to address anyone who quotes Rush, talks about Rush, refers to Rush. Let anyone know who thinks Rush is a player that you hold that thought in greatest contempt. Listening to Rush Limbaugh should be on a par with believing that WWF Raw is real.
