Scott Murphy, the Democratic candidate in this Tuesday's special election for Kirsten Gillibrand's old House seat, has now picked up the endorsement of Eric Sundwall, the Libertarian nominee who got kicked off the ballot on Wednesday due to signature problems with his petitions -- and who is hopping mad with Republican candidate Jim Tedisco.

"Mr. Tedisco denies any involvement with the concerted effort by his supporters to knock me off the ballot," Sundwall wrote in a statement. "I don't believe him. The ruthless effort by his supporters to knock me off the ballot without a word of protest by him proves his unfitness for any office let alone Congress in these critical times."

When asked for comment, Tedisco spokesman Adam Kramer told TPM: "As Jim said before, he welcomed Mr. Sundwall to the race. We certainly welcome Mr. Sundwall's supporters who support the message of less government, less taxes and getting big government off the backs of working families and small businesses. Over the next few days, Jim is going to be traveling across the district meeting people to talk about fighting AIG-style greed on Wall Street and waste in Washington."

Meanwhile, The Hill reports that a Democratic internal poll gives Murphy a lead of 43%-41%, after a Siena poll gave him a 47%-43% lead this morning.

And the Tedisco campaign is saying it is not responsible for an NRCC Web ad using images of Osama bin laden and the 9/11 terrorists to hit Murphy's opposition to the death penalty in all cases, including terrorism, and they are focusing on the race instead of commenting.
