Minnesota Dem Chairman: The Revolution Already Happened -- Bachmann Lost
Minnesota DFL Party chairman Brian Melendez just gave TPM this statement, in response to Michele Bachmann's call for an "orderly revolution" to save freedom from Barack Obama's Marxism:
"Michele Bachmann must have missed the memo: The revolution already happened. The old way of doing business -- her way of doing business -- lost.
"We face the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. To overcome that crisis, Americans must come together, set our differences aside, and get to work. There is plenty of room for thoughtful, respectful debate and criticism. There is no room for hatred or for demonizing those with whom you disagree. Calling one's colleagues 'enemies' and oneself a 'foreign correspondent' is not only a roadblock to results, it is the exact spirit and tone that the American people so overwhelmingly rejected."

Anybody know who the dem is that is going to beat this f'n lunatic in 2010? I want to start contributing as opposed to ranting and raving about her insanity. Anybody have any ideas? Let's send her packing.

This is a great question. I'm pretty sure the guy who ran against her in the last election was not a heavyweight and did not expect to win. If there's a skilled progressive democrat in the 6th District, this would be his or her time to come forward.

Absolutely. Dems need to bury this nut job. She's advocating treason. Why isn't the entire country outraged? I really don't get it. The right worries about flag burning? And somebody is advocating treason and the right is silent? It boggles the mind.

Her nutball comments about "anti-american" congresspeople, obama and palin before the last election turned a blowout into a competitive race.

I think the amazing thing is her ability to pivot from wanting an investigation into unamerican congresspeople to advocating a revolution, in America. Is that somehow not unamerican?

A progressive Dem will not win in MN-6. The district is far too conservative. A moderate Dem with skills, though, can.

I agree! I've heard all about her district in MN and the way it's been gerrymandered so as to include an overwhelming number of right-wing wackos. But I mean, come on. Even these people have to realize that this woman needs professional psychiatric help, not re-election after re-election.
I am so terribly ashamed of her, and I live in Ohio! Do her constituents really want the craziest person in Washington to represent them? This is insane. Wake up MN-6! You are being represented by an un-American idiot!

I want to see the media start asking Republicans if they support Bachmann's call for revolution.
This bullshit needs to be met head on.

I totally with you and let them speak in terms of agreeing or disagreeing with her.
She and the other GOP spokespeople(Rush, Palin, "Boner") need to heard on MSM all the time to portray the idiots that they are!.

Say "Yes!" to redistricting. Bachmann knows this is her last term; she's just positioning for a post-electoral career as another GOP parasite.

NICE smackdown by Melendez. I hope it resonates with the people of her district. Although the way some other commenters describe it, her constituents are just as batshit crazy as she is, so who knows.

While having Bachmann out of the House would be great for democracy, she does serve a useful purpose. The Dems have sufficient numbers in the House to push through the Obama agenda. By having Bachmann as an ever present reminder of the ridiculousness of the GOP, she keeps reminding the rest of the voters around the country how stupid it is to vote Republican. We here in Minnesota just have to hold our nose, a put up with it her stink.
