Minnesota Dems To Cornyn: Texas Doesn't Decide Who Represents Us In The Senate
The Minnesota DFL Party just put out a scathing press release regarding NRSC chairman John Cornyn's statement that the legal processes surrounding the disputed Senate election could last "years." The release declares: "Minnesotans, not Washington (or Texas), will decide who will represent them in the U.S. Senate."
Key quote from party chairman Brian Melendez:
"Former Senator Coleman's own attorney acknowledges that he'll lose his lawsuit. And apparently, the national Republicans have even less faith in his appeal to the Minnesota Supreme Court. But once Coleman's state appeals have run their course, the game is over. If he keeps filing more lawsuits, then he can do it after Senator Franken gets sworn in."

Sounds like Minnesota is heading to SCOTUS with a State's Right's issue - the State, not SCOTUS or the GOP, has the Constitutional right to decide for themselves who will represent them.

Great response time. As long as the keep up the antics, they'll be perceived as the party of no nationally and in Minnesota particular. No, compromise, no solutions, even no to having a Senator from Minnesota. Dems just have to continually point these instances out.

Finally, a great opportunity for the DFL or friends to run an ad with Cornyn's own words. I really don't think Minnesotans want outsiders trying to deprive the citizens of this state of a Senate seat for years. That really does unmask what the Republicans having been trying to do all along. It's been obvious if you pay attention, put it's been a hard point for Franken to make. This hasn't been about Coleman winning or even losing, for the last few months it's been purely about denying the Senate seat to anyone.

This Texan will be phoning his draft-dodging, war-threatening Senator to warn him that if he tries to make good on his threat to obstruct seating of a duly elected Senator, he can expect backlash against his own terrorist hideyhole come election day.
