Murphy Mailer: You Can Help Obama -- Vote Murphy
Scott Murphy, the Democratic candidate for Kirsten Gillibrand's old House seat in this Tuesday's special election, is continuing to tie himself to President Obama in the home stretch. Murphy has this new mailer reminding voters of Obama's endorsement:

"On Tuesday, you can help President Obama bring change to Washington, while helping him create jobs, too," the lit says. "Vote Scott Murphy for Congress."
Running on the Obama brand is probably a good idea. The new Siena poll, which showed Murphy taking a four-point lead after having trailed in previous surveys, put Obama's favorables at 65%.

So if Murphy loses it's a repudiation of Obama? The GOP will surely sell it that way. Hopefully the same folks who polled for Obama's campaign has numbers on this seat and Murphy is a safe bet.
Did Obama get involved with the Chambliss run-off campaigning? Was it too soon after his election or was "Shameless" a virtual shoo-in?
It will all come down to who has the better GOTV ground game.

Oh brother. You are so the glass is half empty. This is obviously a brilliant strategy. Obama is so popular, why not ride on those coattails. If he loses, it won't be a repudiation by any means.
Incidentally, did you see the thousandth bin laden ad being run by the republican al quaeda recruiting operation? I bet that the republican jack booted goon gets slaughtered. Just watch. I'm a glass half full kind of guy.

Yeah, I panic around elections - big or small. I freak out for PTA elections...
If you're "glass is half empty" it means you can be pleasantly surprised when things do go your way and never really disappointed because you "expected" it anyways. If you "glass half full" a loss is a real shock, and a win is "meh - that's what I expected".

You know what. Excellent points. I guess that's why I am usually disappointed. Maybe I should change my outlook. I am too much of an optomist.

Don't lose your optimism. There is another way of looking at things:
If you're right you continue with your positive image of things, and EXPECT good outcomes -- you get to really enjoy it.
If you're wrong, you still have to deal with it, but you only suffer once; at the time it happens. Seeing doom everywhere means you suffer all the time.
Positive thinking can be contagious.
Full disclosure: I am definitely a glass half-empty person, but I admire your type and wish I could be that way.

You can bet your boots that's the narrative and it's not something that we, the country, or the President need just now.

Everybody, again, don't underestimate what the Republicans have in mind if they can win this election.
This is a *big* beginning of the end of Obama for them, nothing less. In their world it's real, and you can expect a tsunami of smirking, patting themselves endlessly on the back, "we told you he'd Overreach," and they'll bring Cheney back out to laugh at our President some more, and the imbecilic media will be RIGHT THERE FOR THE PROPAGANDA FEST.
Here's the banner headline for Wednesday morning, TV and print:
"OBAMA RUNNING OUT OF GAS?" with Gingrich's smiling face next to it.
Folks, SUPPORT SCOTT MURPHY! If you can volunteer in the 20th, give money, talk to voters, whatever, see if you can bring yourself to!
