Illinois Rep: People Ready To Shoot Tax Increasers
Via ThinkProgress, Rep. Mark Kirk (R-IL) thinks Illinois residents want to shoot their elected officials.
"I think that the decision to raise taxes by 50 percent in Illinois is political suicide," Kirk said of [Illinois Governor Pat] Quinn's proposal to raise the tax rate to 4.5 percent from 3 percent, coupled with an increase in the personal deduction. "I think the people of Illinois are ready to shoot anyone who is going to raise taxes by that degree."
From 3 to 4.5 percent. In the wake of the Tea Party protests, we've been following mainstream conservatives' and elected Republicans' flirtations with the extreme right, and we'll continue to do so.

Does Mark Kirk have one of those fake license plates with Yosemite Sam on the back with his guns drawn and him saying "Get back"? Just curious.

More of that usual responsible rightwing talk!

Can these assholes open their mouth with anything other than threats/incitment of violence?
Keep proving our point, you rightwing terrorist sympathizers.

Quinn's capital crime in Kirk's eyes, raising Illinois's regressive income tax from 3% to 4.5% and tripling personal exemptions from $2000 to $6000 will cost over half of Illinois taxpayers exactly nothing. If you make $100,000 it'll cost you about $200. Thanks to "have your cake and eat it too" Republican governors and gutless politicians of both stripes in the Assembly for the last three decades we have a $11.5 billion budget gap and about $50 billion in underfunded pensions Quinn is trying to be an adult about.
Kirk says he'll make up his mind whether he's running for governor or senator or staying put in May. With the weak Repub bench in IL he'd be their frontrunner in either race by virtue of hanging onto his House seat against Dan Seals in the last two elections.
You can help convince him that violent rhetoric is detrimental to his political career by writing him at his House website. You'll have to plug in a local zipcode to do so, I used Highland Park 60035. Write him a little note telling him politely to STFU here:

This is perhaps the only Republican in Illinois with any chance of getting elected dog-catcher, and you want me to contact him with good advice? I'm just as happy to watch this circus unfold. I may just contact him and suggest he bring in Michelle Bachmann to campaign for him.
