Klobuchar To Cornyn: How Would Texas Like Having Only One Senator For Years?

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) -- who has been Minnesota's one and only Senator since the first week of January -- appeared on MSNBC today and fired back at NRSC chairman John Cornyn for saying this week that it could take "years" to resolve her state's disputed Senate race:

KLOBUCHAR: Well, one of the other things he said, David, he said that we could go in Minnesota with one senator for years. And I would love to know how Texas would like that. I think that Minnesota would prefer to make its own decisions. I think we have a process that's taken a while. I think it's a fair process. It's going to--after these votes are opened up, Norm Coleman will make a decision about whether he wants to go up to the Minnesota Supreme Court. There's a process in place for that. Then I'm hoping it's done.

Meanwhile, Roll Call reports that Norm Coleman was meeting with the NRSC in Washington today, to review the party's strategy and official message in light of this week's court ruling that seemed to shoot down his attempts to get more previously-rejected absentee votes into the count.

"He believes that he won the race and won't concede until there is a fair and accurate accounting of all properly registered voters or a new election is held, whichever is cleaner," a GOP source told Roll Call. "If he wanted to protect his political future he would drop it, but this is about justice to him, not a political seat."

The Dems strategy should be to start impugning Pawlenty if he joins the stall game. Pawlenty probably has cover through the MN Supreme Court appeal, but the pressure should start now to link Pawlenty with Coleman and Cornyn if there is any indication that Pawlenty might not sign a certificate after the Supreme Court rules.

Then the GOP will have to figure out whether to jeopardize one of its name-recognized 2012 presidential nominees, and Pawlenty will have to figure out if he wants to captain the SS Coleman as it founders.

"...Norm Coleman was meeting with the NRSC in Washington today, to review the party's strategy and official message... "

Oh, you betcha, Normy, meeting with your handlers out east, dontcha know. Meeting in WASHINGTON about a MINNESOTA election. This cannot be pointed out too many times. You are tool Norm. You are bought. The Coen brothers ought to do a movie about you starring that crook car salesman in "Fargo".

Just so we're fair, Franken also has had meetings in Washington. It seems both have legitimate reason to go there and even participate in caucus meetings.

Now as far as this idea Coleman is doing this out of principle without concern for his political future, please. Somehow hanging on to his senate seat is the only political future he has. I can't see the state GOP nominating him for statewide office again unless they just have no one to run. Then again, their bench isn't exactly deep.

"....but this is about justice to him..."

Well, it's certainly not about what's just for Minnesotans.

Hah hah.

What comedy.

That a response like that should be treated as serious in this day and age is just sad. Sad. Sad.

What evidence could he have possibly seen to lead him to believe he won the race? Sure, there's a chance that if they decided to set rules in some certain way to count the thrown out votes, maybe he would end up ahead. But it's a 50/50 proposition at best, probably a little less since Franken is a little ahead.

Nobody cares what you believe Norm, especially your delusions.

Klobuchar has a good point. Corn-hole should step down as long as he insists that MN has only one senator
