Burris Aide Slams Dem Leadership
In the wake of yesterday's Blagojevich indictment, Roland Burris' media consultant Delmarie Cobb issued a strong statement attacking the Democratic leadership for running down the Senator's reputation. Cobb cited Blago's own plea at the time of the appointment, that the allegations against himself not drag down an honest man's reputation: "To the extent those goals have not been met, the Democratic leadership can blame its own tainted motivations. They have tried their best to discredit one of the few 'clean' politicians Illinois has ever known, in order to do exactly what Blagojevich warned against."

Poll: Michelle's Popularity Edges Out Barack
A new Gallup poll shows that Michelle Obama has taken on the traditionally popular role of a first lady, with a 72% favorable rating -- ahead of her husband's own 69% approval rating, thanks to support among some Republicans who don't approve of the president. Last summer, in the heat of the campaign, Michelle's favorable rating was only 43%.

Typo From White House Sends Reporters To Phone-Sex Line Instead of Conference Call
The White House has said a typographical error yesterday was to blame in giving reporters a phone number for a conference call with Hillary Clinton and James Jones that turned out to be the wrong number -- sending reporters to a phone-sex line. D'oh!

That could be Bill's new excuse..."These charges are from when I tried to call you Baby...your staff gave me the number..."

user-pic

I thought that was already Harold Ford's excuse?

As an aside, I have a friend who works in the phone sex field. Apparently the economy is affecting that in a bad way also.

I'm trying smokesignal-sex because it's cheaper. I keep burning myself.

Burris' position would be much stronger if he actually had been honest.

Overheard earlier: "Gosh, it only takes 45 minutes to get to Germany from France?"

user-pic

55 minutes if you go through Belgium.

More popular than Barack OH SNAPZZ! He is only accompanying her to Europe indeed.

Obama has had a ridiculous schedule in europe since he landed. He really needs to take some time to relax and recharge the batteries. He looked exhausted in the last couple of news conferences. He's got to stop thinking that he is superman and take a break.

The story about reporters accidentally calling the phone sex line reminds me of the smear campaign against then-candidate Mike Arcuri in a New York congressional race in 2006. If any of those reporters passed along that story as credible, I hope they were among the callers or better yet, maybe someone will accuse them of calling sex lines on their employers' expense accounts.
