Schumer, Menendez Call For Coleman To Concede
The DSCC has released these two statements, after Al Franken extended his lead to 312 votes when more ballots were counted today:
U.S. Senator Charles Schumer, chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee during the 2008 cycle, released the following statement:
"When you contest the results of an election, and you lose ground, you ought to know time is up. The people have spoken, and now that the courts have spoken, Norm Coleman ought to let the process of seating a Senator go forward."
U.S. Senator Robert Menendez, current chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee released the following statement:
"Today everyone saw proof of what we have known for a long time: once all the properly cast votes were counted, Al Franken won the election. The people of Minnesota deserve their second Senator and it is time to stop holding the seat hostage to pursue an ideological agenda. We have always said Norm Coleman deserved his day in court - he got two months. It is now time to move on, and let Senator-elect Al Franken get to work for the people of Minnesota."

Lets hope they dont just leave it at that and really push to get Franken seated instead of having to wait for the court to once again say that he won.

I think this is the signal — to the Democratic establishment, to the people, and especially to the good people of Minnesota — to start piling on. The Bush team did this very heavy-handedly in 2000; now is our chance to do it with legitimacy. Call Coleman out for being the sore loser with no respect for the rule of law; extreme negative publicity and growing public pressure will help force him to concede.

They should have quoted McConnell and Kyl's remarks to Al Gore in 2000 when giving the same advice to Coleman now.
"Like Sen. McConnell said back in 2000 to Al Gore..."

Yeah, except preface that by saying "Unlike in 2000, when Al Gore had every right to contest the election in Florida, and Republicans obstructed until they ultimately were able to get a partisan Supreme Court to rule for them...."

They should have done this sooner, but I hope they keep pounding it.
And they should definitely use the GOP talkingpoint from 2000: "they've counted and recounted, and recounted..."
That should REALLY piss them off.

They should turn up the heat on this one. Don't let the GOP get away with the every voter needs their voices heard. They have had their voices heard and the courts blessed their voices. Now is the time to seat Franken.

Ooooh that will do it. Instead of a weakly worded statement how about growing a set and aggressively force Coleman to concede. Make him a laughing stock and shame him. Or gee why not use Coleman’s own words along with the words of the other republican hypocritical jackasses from 2000 election and use it against them
