Stewart Lampoons Defense Spending Imbroglio
One television network that isn't plagued by innumeracy or defense industry capture is Comedy Central. In case you missed it last night, here's Jon Stewart lampooning the strange but predictable fight in Washington over the Pentagon budget.

Good job Jon.

Rachel Maddow also discussed this at length on her most recent show. I think her writers read TPM because she also addressed George Will's global warming column and some of Michele Bachman's lies in the same segment.
And I don't mean to sound like a shill, but her whole show is now available for download as a video podcast. Free. You should all get it.

Rachel is great. She does a political show with comedic references and Stewart does comedy with political facts always ending up with good results.

This "mouth" has so little to offer. It's with great humor that unjust praise is heaped. I'd rather watch Mathews get "chills up his leg" any day. At least we all know he is objective.

Gates changing the priorities of the DOD is the same idea Rumsfeld discussed before being diverted to Iraq. Right policy, wrong war.

If politicians only knew how old, decrepit and obsolete they and their rhetoric appear they'd kill themselves. It appears many already have but their remains are still plodding along.
Lieberman fails to mention the plane... does not work. That we have been pouring billions into the pockets of defense contractors for years on ideas that won't work and are drawn from comic book fantasies. What Liebermann was describing was what he was "told" not something he's witnessed. Wasted money from wasted politicians so easily duped.

Well...what can one say? Republicans, Lieberman (I know, that's redundant), TV newscasters, and the abundant pundits are...what's the word? Oh...stupid, yeah that's it. It's Alice in Wonderland time!
A great comedian gets it, though.

Lieberman is just doing what we expect our "elected" leaders to do: bring home the bacon. It's immaterial and irrelevant if the expenditure is a fraudulent mis-use of taxpayer dollars.
Truth is, most Americans have surrendered to trying to force changes in how their money is being spent, and, Congress members, like Liberman, know this!
