Bachmann Dodges Question On Alleged Swine Flu-Democratic Presidents Connection
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) appeared the other day on the Fox Business Channel, and during the interview she was asked exactly what she meant when she connected swine flu outbreaks to Democratic administrations. She immediately changed the subject, as you can see at the 0:55 mark:
"Well, actually, I had a full, uh, conversation that I was having with another station -- primarily about the economy, because that's what we're worried about right now," said Bachmann. "And we had just found out about the swine flu at that time, the aggressive nature of how far it was progressing. So the real topic of conversation was on the economy, as it should be. The economy right now is at a situation where we're not seeing the level of recovery that we would like to see."
She then proceeded to talk about the harmful effects of President Obama's big spending and the stimulus bill, and how without the stimulus the recovery would have already been happening.
The fun part here is that this exchange is from a clip that was posted on her own YouTube account.

So the stimulus caused the flu? I thought that's what Sen. Snowe was trying to prevent when she got that flu preparedness funding axed from it.

So Collins cutting out that funding didn't stop Obama's stimulus bill from causing the swine flu outbreak? I'm trying to reason like Michelle, here, but I'm not quite putting it together, obviously.

I started posting that a few days ago. Maybe it will catch on. Someone should go on townhall and push the idea because it would be so funny if conservatives actually thought of it as a good idea.

I've gotta ask again: What the hell is wrong with Bachmann? Is she bipolar? Does she have a personality or identity disorder? Maybe just extreme short term memory loss? Or is she just an inept comedian in the wrong field who's messing with us? Her swings/statements/weirdnesses boggle the mind.

In reading the Minneapolis Star-Tribune on the Coleman vs. Franken thing, the subject of Bachmann comes up periodically. MN readers pretty much think that Backmann is a fair representative of her constituents. This is not a complement to either her or her constituents.

Does that mean that she actually has a conscience and recognized that what she had said before was wrong?
Not that she would pay any heed to a conscience, mind you. But, I'm guessing that her office has been getting calls. Lots and lots of them.
As it should.

What is the reasoning behind her belief that the recovery would already be happening if it weren't for the stimulus? I heard Karl Rove say something like this earlier in the year.

Reasoning? Lol...yeah right.

I'm pretty sure it's because the stimulus bill caused the swine flu outbreak, despite Senator Snollins efforts to cut the funding for the outbreak that Obama had put into the original bill. It must have been all that other pork, like volcano monitoring that caused it. Or possibly it was sprayed onto the New World Order currency secretly being printed and distributed on the NAFTA hightway, even as we speak.

The Republicans are all clairvoyant. If Bush were still in office, they'd be saying, "Oh yeah, the economy's bad, but it would have been even worse if a Democrat were in office."
Instead, when the recovery begins, they'll either say that it would have started sooner if not for the stimulus, or it would have started sooner if Congress had passed massive tax cuts.
With their amazing powers of foresight, I'm surprised that they weren't warning us about the home foreclosure crisis and bank failures at least a year or two before they happened. Oddly enough, the Republicans were all crowing about how great the economy was under Bush leading up to the '06 elections. Were they keeping the secret to themselves?
