Crist And Rubio Both Sign Anti-Tax Pledge In Florida GOP Senate Race
In the latest development in the 2010 Florida Senate race, where moderate Republican Gov. Charlie Crist is facing a more conservative opponent in the GOP primary, former state House Speaker Marco Rubio, both candidates have signed the anti-tax pledge of Grover Norquist's Americans for Tax Reform.
In a possible move by Crist to appeal to right-wing voters and activists -- a demographic that might oppose him because of his support for the stimulus bill -- his campaign announced yesterday that he was the first candidate to sign the pledge. Rubio then signed up hours later.
The pledge binds candidates to "oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses ... and oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar-for-dollar by further reducing taxes."

Crist, you just walked into a trap my friend.

If only the Dems had a star ready to run against Crist.

Pretty bad (and somewhat unexpected) Senate news for Dems: Attorney General Roy Cooper will not challenge NC Sen. Burr in 2010.

Cooper is still tied up in a court case that is dragging on and on. I wonder if said judge in that case is a card carrying Republican...

Dems who lick their chops over Crist/Rubio would be better served spending time finding a Democrat to run against Charlie

ATR = POS
Anybody notice that Haley Barbour, another signer of this POS, had to belly up to reality yesterday and sign legislation that jacked Mississippi's cigarette tax by 50 cents a pack?
Meanwhile, out here in CA, the few Republicans left in the state Legislature, who've ALL signed this POS, are about to finish what Reagan and then Howard Jarvis got rolling, the tin-ing of the Golden State.
Next Tuesday's special election will be a disaster, and then it's back to the drawing board to get a budget, with a required 2/3's majority to pass it, and that means at least 3 ReagaNazis in each house have to break the pledge.

Exactly CAL, Signing this pledge is a pure optice thing by Christ. If elected I say he breaks this pledge in the first year! Anybody want the bet, perhaps we can make a derivative out of it so I can hedge my loss.
