In Ad Campaign, Health Care Group Calls Out Democrats By Name
The health reform alliance Health Care for America Now (HCAN) has launched an ad campaign in states with conservative Democrats and moderate Republicans to pressure so-called centrists into support a public option in health care. Here's the ad running in Delaware.
In addition to Tom Carper, the ad, running in six states, calls out Sen. Arlen Specter (D-PA), Sen. Ben Nelson (D-NE), Sen.Mike Johanns (R-NE), Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR), Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-AR), Sen. Mark Pryor (D-AR), and Sen. Evan Bayh (D-IN), Sen. Richard Lugar (R-IN). According to a press release the group sent out today, the ad "names the Senators in each state who have not yet publicly signed on in support of a public health insurance option."
That's an interesting development. HCAN is an alliance of a number of groups, many of which have been reluctant to directly confront conservative Democrats ever since party leaders criticized progressive organizations for targeting House Blue Dogs and members of the loosely allied "Moderate Dems Caucus" in the Senate.

Good ad aimed at the right people. Now let's see these ads in the red states!

All for it! Especially in Specter's case. You don't get to use the party as a vehicle, only for your personal gain.

Good!
This same group could and should be shamed on any number of issues they whore themselves out on to the highest bidder. It's shameful and disgraceful how they betray the public trust under the guise of some bullshit "concern" that is nothing more than industry written talking points in defense of screwing the public and giving yet another political blow job to the parasites who have been harming America for years in order to line their own pockets.

The fact that the dems in the Senate Finance Committee are holding these hearings without a single payer advocate even sitting at the table just sickens me. We are getting "reform" from the major players in the immoral health care system control the debate and the legislation is lobbying at it's best. Hell, they are even discussing and determining how to tax our employer health care benefits as part of the solution to our health care crisis. I am wanting to see millions of people hit the streets in massive protests that health care reform is an illusion and afraud without having a public plan choice in the mix! Fuck Sen. Baucas and Sen. Grassley for their crooked ways and being in the pocket of health care lobbyists.

Well said, oleeb! My only comment is, why not finish the job and name the bidders? These insurance leeches are no different from the financial parasites, AKA Wall Street bonus babies. You could call them, Medical Madoffs. Like the Wall Streeters, their MO is to continue the on-going, massive wealth transfer from the middle class to the ultra-rich. They collect our insurance premiums, and then deny claims. They're just another Bushie elite, sticking it to the public. Why don't we get pictures of them, waddling around their driveways? Who are these scum-bags?
