Inhofe: Free Colonoscopies At Gitmo

Those Gitmo prisoners don't know just how good they've got it!

At a press conference by Republican Senators opposed to closing the prison camp at Guantanamo Bay, Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK) elaborated on what a humane environment Gitmo is: "anyone, any detainee, over 55 has an opportunity to have a colonoscopy."

"Now none of them take 'em up on it, because once they explain what it is, none of them want to do it," Inhofe added. "But nonetheless it's an opportunity that they have."

Wonder how it feels to be a Democrat and realize you just capitulated to the likes of someone like this joke?

I imagine it must feel pretty slimy.

Except in the case of Gitmo prisoners, instead of removing pre-cancerous polyps, they implant them.  This was authorized by a still-secret memo written by John Yoo.

Is this really the best we can do for leadership in our country? Sick, demented, ignorant people like this?

This guy looks like he would still eat Trix cereal every day religiously.

Is that one of the "enhanced interrogation techniques" being used?

"No, we're not torturing him! We're, um, giving him a medical diagnostic. free!"

I don't know about GITMO, but at Abu Ghraib I heard they used broomsticks for a similar 'procedure'. Gee, who wouldn't want to take them up on that?

This would be hilarious if it weren't so sad...

Gitmo inmates get better care than the Average American.

Which would make an excellent talking point, were it not for the fact that Republicans and cable news will bastardize that to suggest that they're not really being tortured there, and, in fact, we should make conditions worse for them! Why should terrorists have better healthcare than Americans?

And just in case any Democrat out there has any delusions about how this will be described in major media outlets, here's how NPR described it in the news update: The Senate delivered a major rebuke to President Obama today.

Well done, Democrats!

Between Limbaugh's repeated use of the phrase "anal poisoning" and other statements like this from Republicans, does it seem that they're just a wee bit obsessed with the notion of things being stuck in people's anuses?

user-pic

No, Cartman, that was just a dream...

user-pic

...so, wait a minute. This means public health care is a GOOD thing?

user-pic

What an ass!

Hmmm, yeah, imagine how it feels to live in Oklahoma -- as I do -- and know this cretin (along with Tom Coburn god help us) represents you in the U.S. Senate.
