Judiciary Committee Releases Sotomayor Questionnaire
The Senate Judiciary Committee is already revving up for Sonia Sotomayor's confirmation process. This evening, Sens. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) Jeff Sessions (R-AL)--the committee's chairman and ranking member--released the questionnaire she will have to complete before hearings on her Supreme Court nomination begin. Give it a gander. The committee will make the completed form available once she responds in full.

Josh, whenever you need it for your confirmation hearings, I have a copy of the chatlog from TPM-Aholics. It'll only cost you a Wisconsin State House seat.

The level of detail in this questionnaire is extraordinary! The volume of information provides a fertile "basket of plenty" for endless nick picking beyond imagination. Consider too, all the man hours to be spent by all those judiciary committee staff members as well as the 100's of people in numerous advocacy organizations hell bent on undermining Obama's selection by mining through the smallest contradiction,or confirmation of a particular POV.
Of course all this effort will be duplicated by those seeking her successful seating on the SC.
Imagine what we could do if a questionnaire was designed and shared with the public to address some of very serious challenges such as: how best to regulate financial institutions; resolving the foreclosure problem; initiating a national grid system design, etc. etc. etc.

Holy cow!! This only confirms that she is a woman with opinions who has spoken such opinions in public. Crusty old white men better mount up.

Republicans are really overplaying their hand on the Sotomayor nomination, and it's likely to backfire right in their face!

The questionaire seems to be pretty standard stuff. But I'm sure that won't stop the know-it-all blowhards of the conseravtive bowel movement from interpreting and attacking her responses without ever having read it.
I'm also sure that Senators like Jeff Sessions will ask her pointed questions that have nothing to do with the questionaire, the law, or anything else that's relevant to the matter at hand.
