Koh's Nomination Approved By Senate Foreign Relations Committee
Harold Koh has been reported out of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on a 12 to 5 vote, according to a committee spokesperson. Ranking member, Sen. Richard Lugar (R-IN) voted with the committee's 11 Democrats to advance Koh's nomination to be the State Department's Legal Adviser to the Senate floor.
Koh's vote in committee had been scheduled for last week, but, without explanation, Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) delayed that vote until today's hearing, and then opposed the former Yale Law School Dean. Republicans could potentially use similar tactics to delay a full vote, and a number of conservative activists are hoping to spike the nomination entirely.

How do those conservative activists plan to spike the nomination altogether when they are on the wimp end of a 58 1/2 to 41 1/2 margin?
Sounds like a project for the Sunlight Foundation to get involved in.

Let's call them what they really are, they are conservative radicals, not activist. Maybe it is wrong to put these two words together (radical, conservative) but their actions are not inline with the idea of being a conservative but more in line with being an activist. However, being a child during the booming TV culture has enlightened me that normally people who act like this are properly labeled protesters, radical and the politically correct term activist.
I am sure I am just splitting hairs so maybe conservative activist is proper, but they seem alot more activist than conservative!

The word you are looking for is fanatic. These are conservative fanatics that we are dealing with.

I actually prefer "activist". The Republicans have managed to turn "activist" into a dirty word. "Activist judges", for instance, is a bad, bad thing when the judge in question happens to be a liberal. So if "activist" is a dirty word when applied to liberals, it should have the same negative connotations when applied to conservatives.
And I'd start with describing Rush Limbaugh as a conservative activist. Over and over and over.
