One Joe For Another: Sestak Gets First--And Significant--Endorsement
Joe Hoeffel, a former congressman, and Sen. Arlen Specter's 2004 general election rival, has come out for Rep. Joe Sestak (D-PA) in the likely Democratic primary.
"If Joe Sestak runs in the primary, I will support him," Hoeffel told the Daily Times of Delaware County. "I admire him very much and think he will be a strong candidate for whatever he runs for, including reelection."
Hoeffel's a well known and popular figure in Pennsylvania politics, and his endorsement could give Sestak some early, and helpful momentum.

Ehh. I don't know that Hoeffel's that popular or well-known. But everything helps for a guy in Sestak's position, I guess.

In Bucks, Montgomery, Chester, and Phila, Hoeffels endorsement is very big and not surprising. Remember one of Sestaks big edges is the hard work he's done for the county parties. They simply won't work for Specter.

Are you kidding? He's done less than ZERO. And by less, I mean that he's used, taken or co-opted resources without giving back anything in return, beyond the obligatory "endorsement" form-letter for local candidates. This guy is a total one-way street and the people that do the actual hard work know it. Publicly they kiss his rear-end so he'll show up at their events, but privately they long to replace him with a decent human being.
If he abandons his congressional district, everybody's going to be putting all their effort into keeping the seat in Dem hands and let Sestak swing in the wind, like he did for all the local candidates in his district.
