Poll: 2010 Ohio Senate Race Is Wide Open, With Early Advantage For Democrats
The new Quinnipiac poll of Ohio shows that the 2010 Senate race for the seat of retiring GOP Sen. George Voinovich is wide open, with the Democrats appearing to start out with an early advantage.
In the Democratic primary, Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher has 20% to Sec. of State Jennifer Brunner's 16%, followed by state Rep. Tyrone Yates at 4%. In the Republican primary, former Rep. Rob Portman has 29%, with his potential major opponent, state Auditor Mary Taylor, at 8%, and auto dealer Tom Ganley at 8%.
In the general election match-ups, Fisher leads Portman by 42%-31%, and he leads Taylor by 41%-29%. Brunner leads Portman by 40%-32%, and she's ahead of Taylor by 38%-29%. The undecideds are clearly very high, and anything could happen in the next year and a half, but for now the Dems have an advantage.

That great in all, but I wish Jennifer Brunner would quit her bid for the Senate. She won't bear Lee Fisher and we need her at Secretary of State. She did a lot of good last year in preventing the GOP from trying to supress the vote in Ohio.

Other polls have this more competitive. Ohio being Ohio, it will depend on tying Portman to the economic/trade policy of the Bush Administration. That shouldn't be too hard.

Hell no, all the DSCC or the candidates campaign have to do is run ads of abandonedfactories that have shut down then show a picture of Rob Portman, Bush's trade guy the man who helped shipped those good paying jobs overseas.
There you go in a nutshell.

What we need to do is to steal the NRSC's idea which they're using against Specter in Pennsylvania and tie Portman to Bush. There's probably plenty of video of them together.
