Race Baiting Sotomayor Critic Now Baffled By Argument About 'Race And Identity Politics'

Earlier today, MSNBC correspondent Savannah Guthrie got an email about the fight over Sonia Sotomayor from a shocked Wendy Long of the Judicial Confirmation Network. "Somehow," she wrote, "this important debate is turning into an argument about race and identity politics."

How ever could that have happened!? Maybe it had something to do with statements like this by...Wendy Long: "[Sotomayor] herself has said that she thinks it's appropriate for her to make decisions as a Latina woman, from that perspective, bringing to bear those demographics on her decision-making. And that she thinks if she applies her personal views and her personal demographics to the case before her, she's going to make a better decision than a white man."

That was three days ago on Anderson Cooper. And there's, of course, much more. Baffling, though, that this could have somehow become an argument about race and identity politics.

It's a mystery, that's for sure.

Heh, it's wonderfully entertaining to watch these racist fucktard maroons squirm desperately as they realize- TOO LATE- that they've gone much, much too far.

user-pic

Too far for what? This is their job, they have no other power. Tancredo, Newt, Long, etc. are all just taking potshots from the peanut gallery exactly because their only stake in the game is aesthetic. It's not like their coming down on the wrong side of history here is going to affect their ability to earn a living.

Birds Nest Politics. I'm picturing birds nesting in her hair.

user-pic

I'm told her brain possess a beak and wings!

In fairness, we should consider the arguments against the judge.

I don't think this article is about fairness, it's about the loud mouth Republicans wanting it all their way.
The hearings will show who's "fair" and who is not.
If the lady isn't up to the task, let the hearings bring it to the front and center.
If she is up to it, then move on.

clever. almost *too* clever. one less cup of coffee this morning and i might not have made it to the plot twist at the end.

Ms. Long is getting a little shrill. I wonder if she's menstruating.

oh, Ollie! LOL

Maybe wendy long would make better decisions if she was a wise Latina, with her experience and point-of-view.
And I mean every word of that. If nothing else, the Republican smear-campaign-cum-hissy-fit has convinced me of that. I doubt Sonia Sotomayor could have, but Wendy Long sure as hell did.

IT is truly stunning how closet racists like Limbaugh, Gingrich and this fuckhead ex-congressman Tancredo have are claiming Sotomayor is a "reverse racist." Even the term reverse racist speaks to their overall mindset.

They just can't seem to understand they lost the election and they are not in power.

I am looking forward to the Senate hearings --especially from GOP senators who represent significantly hispanic states.

Here is a clip of Wendy Long illogically arguing against empathy. Oh the lengths cons will go...

Wendy Long is a very sickening woman. She reminds me in some ways of Liz Cheney. It constantly amazes me that these people actually procreate. Then I remember that they procreate with each other. Certainly no intelligent, decent, Liberal human being would ever have sex with any of them.

And don't tell me about Carville, he's definitely not a Liberal or decent. In fact, marrying who he did, I actually question his intelligence too...lol

The race baiting is not working so they want to change the subject. No need to keep reminding the public of all the racism and hatred that is being spewed from the right. Hey can't we just forget the kkk talking points and just get along? Soon she will be claiming her love for "latinas", "hey I have one who works for me, she cleans my toilet every day" will be the next cry from our lovely Wendy.

Wait till the, "some say," and "they say" comments. They still haven't figured out "some" and "they" are those using them.
