RNC Abandons "Democrat Socialist Party" Resolution
The RNC has officially scrapped the much-ridiculed proposal to call for the Democratic Party to change its name to the "Democrat Socialist Party," which was originally set for a vote today.
RNC Chairman Michael Steele had opposed this cartoonish proposal from the start -- and in a sign that he is now exercising genuine leadership at the GOP, he has negotiated a much tamer change in language that simply calls on Americans to reject the Democrats' "socialist" agenda.
This deal had first been announced last night, and was formally carried out today.
Late Update: The resolution's original sponsors are still claiming victory in that the proposal generated publicity and educated the public. RNC member David Norcross of New Jersey said the effort here was to raise the public's awareness of the Democratic agenda, so that the people can be "properly fearful."

I'll scrap my socialist agenda when Repubs scrap their douchebag agenda. Deal?

Does this mean we can't re-brand them as the National Socialist Party? Lord knows, they've been doing their best to act the part.
Then again, White Billionaire Boys Club is still open for the taking as far as I can tell. Besides, the National Socialist Party was already used once in the last century to no avail - other than massively culling the Ashkenazi tribe of which Charles Schumer ("that J**") is an American-born member.
Prescott Bush was such a great admirer, an financer, of the Germa National Socialist Party that he actually had his bank confiscated from him during that WW II thingie for backing the other side with a guy named Thyssen (Wiki is such a fun tool). Old Prescott did this after his gig with the Brown Bros Banking group. That would be the Brown of Kellog-Brown-Root and the Brown Bros mentioned by Gen. Smedley Butler (Wiki him, see the Business Plot coup on FDR).
You can't make this stuff up, folks. This is all right in front of your face if you take 10 - 15 minutes to follow a few links.
We just lived under the latest version of the National Socialist Party for eight years. It's a family dynasty thing for the Bushes.
I feel like a drowning man coming up for air. It sure would be nice to have the light of the truth shining fully so that I can see what actually happened while I was being waterboarded these last eight years.
Take care all.

Good one, you nailed it. It's got kind of a catchy sound also. The republican douchebag agenda. Hmmm, what's that remind me of?

The RNC should be more concerned about their party being branded as nihilist.

That must be exhausting for them..

It's neat how this little dustup delineates the spheres between "moderate" and "hardliner" within the Republican Party.

Actually, I think it more properly delineates between "hardline" and "batshit insane".

I am so disappointed. I was looking forward to their efforts and energy to normalize and remove the fear from the word socialist.

And here is an example of why they just won't die:
Oh, that, and the fact that their sheep believe their bullshit.

Whoa! You mean to tell me this was really about Republicans trying to make people fearful? Damn. Who knew?

Now, I am sad beyond belief . . . The Republican Party almost . . . A-L-M-O-S-T . . . almost stood for something other than "NO!!!"

"Properly fearful" sums up their situation.
When all else fails, use fear. It clicks with the reptilian brain.
"Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."

Seriously, thanks for a powerful quote-and-attribution. All too familiar, unfortunately!

I'm torn, between renaming the GOP as the ReagaNaziCorporation (RNC) because it encapsulates their philosophical bases, and renaming it the American Kamikaze Party, describing as it does their arc of power and existence.
But the symbol definitely should be Uncle Sam, held down and being teabagged by a big ol' Red-and-Blue elephant.
Mmmm... that's Republican...

Gee, I'm so glad that the "moderates" in the Republican party won out on this. What a bunch of assholes.

on a more serious note....what kind of "national" organization wastes actual, real time on this type of IDIOCY? I mean, I love watching the GOP crash and burn, but surely somewhere in that grand ol' mess, someone must be screaming in frustration that intern hours, copy paper, and stamps were wasted on this "issue". Where are those voices?

*Very* good questions. The "name-calling party". Sheesh!

How 'bout properly paranoid? The GOP is scary & the fear is that these bushian bozos might come back someday.
The only thing to fear is fear mongerers & their tactics.

I offer this psychodynamic formulation of what is really going on with these batshit Republicans: They secretly long to be held down and sodomized by a thuggish gang of effete, non-smoking, vegetarian, secular humanists as part of the Pagan celebration of the Winter Solstice, (to be filmed and rebroadcast every year as part of PBS’s pledge week). They need to make up this absurd crisis and portray themselves as the publicly wronged, but holier-than-thou victims. This is all about unconscious masochism & self-vindicating paranoia. The fear they want to inflict on everyone else is actually their own fearfulness.
