Schwarzenegger: Limbaugh Not The 800 lb. Gorilla -- He's Down To 650 lbs.
There's at least one high-ranking Republican office-holder willing to insult Rush Limbaugh. Check out what California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said last night on CNN:
"Well I think that they say that Rush Limbaugh is the 800 lb. gorilla in the Republican Party," said Schwarzenegger. "But I think that's mean-spirited to say that -- because I think he's down to 650 lbs. I think one should be fair to him about this whole thing."
In all seriousness, Arnold talked about the need for a big tent. He acknowledged that the right wing does have an important place. "But we also need to create a center of the Republican Party," he said, "and I think that the bigger our tent is, the better it is."

Another prominent Republican elected official that Limbaugh needs to vilify.
So many moderates, so little time.

Unless its for the cheap shot over his weight, I don't think Rush is getting an apology this time. What will be be interesting to see is whether he even has the nerve to issue one of his fatwas against Ahnold on his show today or tomorrow.

LOL, true, this wasn't really an attack, just a bad insult joke. But seriously, an insult joke at Rush's expense? Considering how many insults that Rush dishes out every day, I think that kudos go out to 'Ahnold' in this case.

Gotta figure that joke was locked and loaded and Arnold was just waiting for a clear shot. He might have even invited it. "Ask me about Rush."

He's so fat he has many lesser Republicans orbiting him....

As one of the (likely) very few here who has seen a 600+ lb. man in person, I can tell you it is a very disquieting experience. There was sympathy mixed in with my reaction.
Limbaugh is a different type of negative experience. I have no sympathy or compassion for him whatever. I would not pee on him if someone lit him on fire. (I might look for more matches, just in case.)

Well it looks as if the Terminator will be getting terminated soon. What the GOP needs and what it does are mutually exclusive. Any attempt to swing one side around to the other will be met with a equal and opposite reaction. The base won't have anything to do with changing their perspective - they don't see themselves as the problem. And until they do recognize they are the problem, the GOP will stay in self-destruct mode and eventually fade from the political process. Let's all hope for a 2010 strong Democrat Senate at the repuglican bases expense.

Will Rush stand up to the Terminator or will he cut and run like most bullies do? Certainly a "Come to Jesus" moment to see if Mr. Limbaugh has cojones.

OMFG that was hilarious. Go Governator!

Can't wait for Limbaugh to try to make the Governator apologize.

I think I can safely say that it won't happen. Schwarzenegger is comfortable with himself, not up for re-election, and could easily pick up even Rush over his head and toss him into a lake, possibly one-handed. It's not as if he's dependent upon the crazies like, for example, Steele is.

Ha, let's see Gray Davis do THAT! The recall was so totally worth it, huh?

I love the dismissive tone regarding Rush! It's about time some Republican had the guts to figuratively kick him to the curb. Unfortunately, Arnold isn't a heavyweight Republican these days. The state is pretty much in tatters and, much as Arnold meant to rescue us, it hasn't worked out so well. Remarkably enough, it's not even all Arnold's fault. I'm not generally a fan of "kick all the bums out and start over," but that may be an appropriate action at the moment. It couldn't make things any worse.
P.S. Arnie too-he keeps trying to balance the budget on the backs of the disabled, the elderly, and the poor. Even the little kids.

Every state in the Union, regardless of the party of the governor or who controls the legislature, is trying to balance its budget on the backs of the disabled, the elderly, and the poor. California, as usual, is doing it in a more visably acrimonious and dysfunctional fashion, but if there's a state where this isn't happening, I'd like to hear about it.
And you forgot about the mentally ill. First, foremost and always, the first people in line to be screwed by a state when money gets tight are the mentally ill. They're the most powerless, so, of course, they get defunded first.

You're right about the mentally ill, of course. I tend to forget them in budget dealings like this because they get so little of the pie to start with.
In case we are unclear on how bad that really is: our neighbors of 30+ years have a mentally ill middle-aged son. He refuses meds (even if he could get them) because he says he doesn't need them. He destroys their property - his point of view is that he's improving it - and disrupts their lives. They have two choices: 1) live with it and 2) kick him out to live in the river bed and eat out of garbage cans. They do get a bit of respite sometimes when he is picked up by the police for whatever and spends some time in jail. What a great system!

The problem with Limbaugh, Newt,Bachmann and company is not that they are creating a big outhouse and not a big tent.
