Sessions: "I Don't Sense A Filibuster In The Works"
Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), the ranking Republican on the Judiciary Committee, is busy playing down the expectations for any GOP resistance to the Sotomayor nomination.
Sessions appeared on the Today show, and said that Sotomayor "has serious problems." And he urged against rushing through to a confirmation. "But I would think that we would all have a good hearing, take our time, and do it right," he said. "And then the senators cast their vote up or down based on whether or not they think this is the kind of judge that should be on the court."
However, he also added: "I don't sense a filibuster in the works."

Um, if there's an up-or-down vote, something Republicans deemed the Holy Grail when they were in control, then of course, there isn't going to be a filibuster, right?

"I don't sense a filibuster in the works."
Sounds like he's talking about the weather: I don't feel like it's going to rain today. Problem is that it sometimes rains anyway.

Exactly. And by publicly making these comments, J. Beau can then claim, when the filibuster miraculously develops on its own that "We kept an open mind, but after learning more about Missus Maria Hotblood Sotowhatever, we realized we needed to save the country from this hasty ill-informed choice by Barry Hussein Obama!"

True, they seem to be playing the game again.

He may be sincere in this -- it's the smart move. Don't filibuster or block her and thus limit damage among Hispanics and women. Hope this isn't what they're up to, though! :)
There's some chance that Limbaugh will hijack the issue and they'll be forced to go the way you guys say. I would love to see sessions forced to make amends before the Great Bloviator, maybe move to have a gas facility named after him.
