Steele: Republicans Will Reserve Judgement On Sotomayor
RNC Chairman Michael Steele has put out this rather cautious-sounding statement on the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor for the Supreme Court:
"Republicans look forward to learning more about federal appeals court judge Sonia Sotomayor's thoughts on the importance of the Supreme Court's fidelity to the Constitution and the rule of law. Supreme Court vacancies are rare, which makes Sonia Sotomayor's nomination a perfect opportunity for America to have a thoughtful discussion about the role of the Supreme Court in our daily lives. Republicans will reserve judgment on Sonia Sotomayor until there has been a thorough and thoughtful examination of her legal views."

What is the RNC doing issuing a statement on a Supreme Court nominee? The RNC is the political arm of the party; they're supposed to claim that this isn't political, it's what's best for the country.
Steele is like a moth to the media flame. He just can't resist, despite making a complete fool of himself every time.

Please o please o please, Lord -- let the African-American head of the RNC play the "affirmative action" card on the nation's first Hispanic Supreme Court justice!

So true. The Republican idea of a "thoughtful discussion" is name-calling and fear-mongering. See "Cheney, Dick" and "Bachmann, Michelle" for starters!
Also it is fun to count every Republicans trotting out the quote they have been told to repeat ad nauseum re: "reserve judgment" and "thorough and thoughtful examination of her legal views", almost verbatim. But the MSM just lets it slide even when it is obvious the Repubs are just parroting what they've been told one after the other. Intellectual lightweights all.
