Bachmann Not Ruling Out Bid For Governor

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) appears to not be ruling out a potential bid for Governor of Minnesota. An aide had previously said Bachmann wasn't interested, but apparently that door is still open.

"It would have to be if I felt like I was supposed to do it and right now I feel like I'm where I'm supposed to be," Bachmann told Minnesota Public Radio. "If my heart moved in the other direction and I had the tug, I'd do it. I wouldn't be afraid to run for office. I just don't feel the tug."

What might that tug look like? Well, Bachmann did say back in 2006 that God called her to run for Congress, and that she and her husband fasted for three days to ask God if this was indeed His will.

Just to be on the safe side, Michelle, if God tells you to run for governor, why don't you and your hubby fast for 30 days. It's a very important decision and you'll want to be sure you heard him right. I think after 30 days without food, his voice should be crystal clear.

Hey I just got this hot off the presses from god: He also wants her to forego water during that time.

Question: would she have to resign her current seat to run for governor? If so, I say, Go For It! Minnesotans just might be really really sick of republicans right about now.

user-pic

Hey - I just heard from God. He wants Bachmann to resign and move to Kazakhstan. He told me, so it must be true.

user-pic

Truly the comedy gods are smiling upon us if she is actually deluded enough to consider this. It would be the fastest fall from grace since Icarus.

I am reminded of a DVD I just rented that I heard about in the NY Times: Crisis, about the integration of the university in Little Rock, Arkansas in the early 1960's. In several scenes Gov. Wallace has his ass kissed by all the local racists who thank him for blocking the black students' entrance and admission. Michele ma belle may be getting her ass kissed by the locals but I can assure her that the intense feelings of the 6th District in MN are not shared statewide.

Go, Michelle, Go.

user-pic

Wallace? Or Faubus?

user-pic

Duh. I saw "integration", "Little Rock", and glommed onto a different crisis.

user-pic

Actually, I'm really confused. Governor Wallace of Alabama was blocking black students' access to the University of Little Rock?

There isn't a governor Wallace of Alabama.

user-pic

My bad. Zap the Little Rock and replace with Tuscaloosa! :-\

Bachmann Not Ruling Out Bid For Governor

PHFFFT!  OK, Eric, you got me.  It's been ages since I spit my coffee all over my screen.

user-pic

Yay! Go for it, Ms. Crazy-eyes! The world can always use more comedy gold!

user-pic

I think i'm in the prolonged fasting crowd.

user-pic

Michelle, that tug you felt wasn't God. It was The Hook.

Actually, I hope she runs and wins. At least then, her political mayhem will be isolated to the confines of MN, and won't have much potential for national contagion.

user-pic

Don't know about that one. The *current* MN gov has his eyes on Obama's chair...

user-pic

Yeah, but he's not a drooling, rabid lunatic

user-pic

No, he's just a typical republican ass-hat.

user-pic

And that is the danger. He is very polished in public but just as mean spirited and fanatical as Michelle.

user-pic

My friend in Duluth said he asked his group of free thinkers to "pray for Michelle to run." He is something of an absurdist with a wicked sense of humor.

Many here would simply want her to run, and run off the edge of the public service. But some of the folks in her district warn that she is very, effective on the campaign trail. So we should all be careful of what we wish for. Four years of Governor Bachmann is not something I'd look forward to. In our three way races for Governor, there are no sure bets.

user-pic

I think four years of Jesse Ventura cured most Minnesotans of the yen for "colorful" governors...

user-pic

Here's the weird thing: compared to the current GOP roster of luminaries, Ventura is looking and sounding positively normal. I keep thinking I went Through The Looking Glass somewhere recently.

user-pic

I caught myself halfway hoping that Jesse would run again if she does, just to watch him rip into her in a debate. Like him or not, there's no mincing of words from Ventura.

user-pic

Ventura really wasn't a bad governor. He's certainly farther left then some of the "centrist" Democrats.

user-pic

You know that's why Michelle is so special. It's just another day and then she brightens it up with ace comedy. I must say she can always produce the best laughs.

user-pic

I doubt she'd want the job. Governors actually have to do something.

user-pic

Operator? Give me long distance.
Long distance? Give me heaven.
Heaven? Give me Jesus on the line.

Bachmann/Palin '08

OMG!!!!!

All the Dems have to do is play her interview with Chris Matthews last year when she was saying their were spies or whatever it was she was saying, and they will not vote for her. To say that that members needed to be investigated was on the lnatic fringe.

Bachmann has given the Dems so many antidotes to se against her should she run, I do not even know where to start.
