Coleman Staffers Getting New Jobs
Have things reached the point in the ongoing (and going, and going...) Minnesota Senate race, where even Norm Coleman's staffers may have seen the writing on the wall? In recent weeks, two of his top staffers have gotten new jobs.
LeRoy Coleman (no relation), who served as Coleman's Senate communications director, has now joined the Republican National Committee as director of media affairs. And two weeks ago another top Coleman staffer, campaign manager Cullen Sheehan, became an RNC regional director.
The fact that Sheehan signed up for a new job is pretty telling, even though he'll still be helping out with the Coleman camp. The reason is that Sheehan is the official co-plaintiff, along with Coleman, in the actual ongoing election lawsuit.
Norm himself got a consulting job months ago with the Republican Jewish Coalition, providing him with a source of income.

Something about rats and sinking ships comes to mind . . .

Yup. Money talks and BS walks. "Where's my check, Norm?"
Maybe if John Cornyn puts out a donation plea to pay for Norm's staff...

Maybe Senator Ensign knows someone who can put them up in a house for a while. I hear there are some very nice homes available in the vegas area right now...

I hear that John Ensign could use more help on his "staff". Maybe they should blow on over there and get a job.

So Norm is a member of the Republican Jewish Coalition? Let's see, Jews vote overwhelmingly Democratic and voted for Obama by an astounding percentage. Guess Norm and Eric Cantor (R-I want to be George Allen) will get together to go to Britney Spears concerts.

That is totally unfair to Britney!
She seems to have gotten her act together and is working hard these days. I am not personally keen on her music, but I'm not keen on Ludacris either.

Of course Cullen Sheehan had to get a new job, he needs to find some way of paying his share of the $94,000 in costs awarded to Franken for which he is personally responsible.

Now they've seen the writing on the wall? What have they been looking at for the past 6 months? It doesn't say much for the quality of staff support Coleman has been providing the people of MN with while he was Senator.

The writing on the wall isn't about whether he's going to win or not, it's about whether they're going to continue to get paid.

As a lobbyist for Minnesota non-profits I had a very productive relationship with former Senator Coleman's staff. I know that several, if not most, found other jobs months ago. I was actually surprised to learn there were still a few holdouts. It is widely expected that the Minnesota Supreme Court will rule unanimously for Al Franken next week. Many also predict that at that point Coleman will concede, perhaps because he may run for Governor in 2010. Most Minnesotans will just be happy to have two senators again. Al Franken, who is not particularly popular, will have his work out for him to get up to speed and convince many Minnesotans that he will not be the divisive figure the GOP portrayed him to be. Following the example of Secretary of State Clinton I expect he will be a hard working, serious senator that shuns the limelight for at least the first couple years and earns the respect of most Minnesotans.

Nonsense. They're both Wing Nuts. That's a much stronger tie than a little DNA.

Wing Nut Welfare...the safety net with no gaps.

So Norm has been consulting for the past several months. What I want to know is who has been paying his staff? Something must have kept them in his employ since November other than their love for his idealism.

Perhaps senator Ensign should have been working as hard on Coleman's election as he was working on his own erection.
