Gingrich: Cheney Concentrated On National Security; Obama Read A Couple Of Left-Wing Books
Newt Gingrich spoke last night to the Connecticut Republican Party, and made it clear just how much he trusts Dick Cheney over President Obama.
"One was chief of staff, secretary of defense and a vice president who concentrated on national security," Gingrich said to the assembled Republicans. "The other read a couple of left-wing books on the CIA."
It's an interesting description of the current President of the United States, who was also previously a U.S. Senator -- making him sound like the lefty kids you see on college campuses, carrying around copies of Noam Chomsky.
Interestingly, there was a dog that didn't bark: Gingrich didn't mention Sonia Sotomayor, against whom he's kind of, sort of, not really backed away from calling a racist.

.....a vice president who concentrated on national security,"
Newt just admitted that Cheney has been calling the shots throughout Bush's term. Between the President and the VP, the President is the one who should be concentrating on national security.

I'm sorry, not having served in the Navy I just don't have the vocabulary to comment adequately on this one.

While DICK was "concentrating on national security," he was dead wrong on WMDS, dead wrong on 9/11 Iraq link and dead wrong that Iraqi insurgents were just dead enders and that peace was just around the corner.

For someone who was concentrating on national security, Cheney sure racked up a lot of military deferments.

The problem with Dicky-do is that in terms of concentrating, he was AWOL from January 20 till breakfast time on September 11. They were repeatedly warned by Richard Clarke, Tenet made a trip from Langley to the White House in July, and they had big-headline warnings in August. The result of which was total inaction and a proposal on the Hill as of Sep. 10 to cut anti-terrorist readiness. It a cataclysmic failure over many months, occuring in the light of day, utter indolence in the face of countless warnings with catastrophic results. That's Dicky-do's problem and it's his legacy.
Now Newty-newt wants this most odious spectacle to be his problem, too. That's totally alright with us.

Here's what was reported on the local NPR station about Newtie's visit.
He also offered advice on how to solve the budget impasse here in CT.

the reason newt's sotomayor dog didn't bark might be because it slobbered all over the Washington Examiner this morning:

Dick Cheney lead the Terrorism Task Force whose Principals Committee didn't meet until September 4, 2001. Is that concentrating?

Well, that's two more books than the last Republican president ever read.

According to Olbermann, Bush's reading contest with Rove proves that he had entirely too much time on his hands, having read nearly 200 books in 3 years. As K.O. said, "spending entirely too much time reading about history instead of realizing his role in it."
Obama, OTOH, is still reading his first novel after becoming president.

Meanwhile, Newt Gingrich avoided the draft, screwed around on his wife (at least two of them), managed to get the government shut down unnecessarily, gained 53 pounds, and checked himself into alcohol rehab.
And exactly why should we listen to you, again, Newt?
