GOP Rep. Culberson Backs Away From Comparison Between Iranian Dissidents And House GOP
Rep. John Culberson (R-TX) has backed off from some of his Twitter posts yesterday, in which he seemingly compared the oppression of Iranian dissidents with the plight of House Republicans.
About ten hours ago, Culberson Tweeted this:
Restrictions against dissent in US House cannot be compared to restrictions imposed on Iranian population by their tyrant government
Yesterday, Culberson's take had been a bit different. "Good to see Iranian people move mountains w social media, shining sunlight on their repressive govt - Texans support their bid for freedom," he initially Tweeted. He then followed it up with: "Oppressed minorities includeHouseRepubs: We are using social media to expose repression such as last night's D clampdown shutting off amends," and then extensively posted about Nancy Pelosi shutting off Republican amendments.

Oh my goodness. I always thought when the Republicans referred to "Democrat pParty" or "Democrat legislation" they were doing it on purpose to be annoying.
Culberson's twitter has me wondering if maybe they just don't know what an adjective is.

And, gee, all it took was receiving 30 hours of vicious, relentless, continous ridicule by thousands of people.
Oh, and by the way, this one time, my favorite Chinese buffet ran out of vegatable egg foo yung. Now I know how those starving climate change refugees in Africa feel.

My favorite was "Hoekstra just ran through the sprinklers and now he knows what Hurricane Katrina victims felt like."

Yeah - I was in a dusty place once, and sneezed, so now I know how those Indians in Bhopal felt when the Union Carbide plant gassed them in the middle of the night.

This is SOP for the GOP. I've lost count how many times ludicrous and/or hateful comments have been uttered by high-ranking Republicans, followed by a supposed "correction" or half-apology. McCain did it during the campaign, Gingrich did it with the "racist" comment, now this, to name just a few. They are said with a nod and wink to their extremist/hate base. Essentially, "See, we still hate and we are still with you! ".

Not only is were his comments ridiculous but on top of that the Texas GOP has been fighting, along with Gov "good Hair", to bring voter ID laws down here to there state. So I ask this question from his most recent comments, "shining sunlight on their repressive govt - Texans support their bid for freedom." One does Rep Culberson speak for all Texans? No! Does Rep Culberson remember all that rhetoric and GOP colleagues have used in the past against the middle east, describing Iran as the axis of evil. I guess he call your country the axis of evil and then the next day expect that none of the Iranians, or for that matter Americans find your sudden embrace of any of the Iranian people a little less than sincere.
He is right that there are Texans who are excited and concerned about the current events in Iran, for its people's sake, just like the protest of support in Austin this morning but I would venture that 90% of those in attendance so not identify themselves with the GOP and especially the GOP of Texas.

I continue to be amazed at how this nation continues to end up with these clowns in power.
Are ALL the circuses full.. or have too high standards for our elected officials that they are left with the one career choice with only one requirement... lie well enough to fool some of the voters... and hope the rest stay home on election day?

This guy is another GOP nut case. Your other story has him signing up with Florida's Posey on the Birther Bill.
