House GOPers Tweet On Similarities Between Iranian Unrest And Oppression Of House Republicans

Rep. John Culberson (R-TX) is posting on Twitter to praise the use of social networking media to organize against the tyrants in Iran -- and the tyrannical Democrats running the House of Representatives.

"Good to see Iranian people move mountains w social media, shining sunlight on their repressive govt - Texans support their bid for freedom," Culberson posted earlier today. He then followed it up with this: "Oppressed minorities includeHouseRepubs: We are using social media to expose repression such as last night's D clampdown shutting off amends"

Over the next few hours -- and following some ridicule in the blogosphere -- Culberson has dug in further. "Pelosi etal shut down House amendments & debate on Approps Bill to prevent conservatives from slowing down their uncontrolled spending spree," he just posted.

Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-MI) has also Tweeted on the similarities between the oppressed House Republicans and the Iranians taking to the streets: "Iranian twitter activity similar to what we did in House last year when Republicans were shut down in the House."

No, this is not from The Onion.

The Onion's too subtle for this crap. This is Mad Magazine stuff.

LOL.

Shorter GOP House Members: "WAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!"

Have you ever seen a bigger bunch of whiny martyrs in your life?

user-pic

Would you like a better analogy, Culberson? What the Iranian people are doing in the streets, in response to seeing their election rigged by the party in power and their votes rendered meaningless, is what we should have seen happening here when the Supreme Court appointed George W. Bush to the presidency.

And one other thing about the party that was in power here. If the White House and the GOP members of Congress had gotten their way during the Bush administration, we wouldn't be seeing Iranians in the streets trying to reform their own government. We'd see hundreds of thousands of Iranian corpses, Iranian cities reduced to rubble, and war breaking out throughout the Middle East.

Take a good long look at those people in the streets of Teheran, Republicans. They want democracy. You wanted them annihilated. Dick Cheney and John Bolton still do.

House Republicans have a lot of nerve accusing the Democrats of "repression" after the way they completely shut Democrats out of the process when they had the majority. Project much, GOOPers?

user-pic

If they were truly repressed, they wouldn't be free to obstruct everything that they have. Repressed people don't get to shut down everything that doesn't suit them with a simple parliamentary procedure.

user-pic

Chimpale, here's something for Culbertson to think about also. The people of Iran are demanding their voices be heard by a group that seized power by force. The Republicans are demanding their voices be heard by a group that was popularly elected.

In the GOP dictionary, that's the same thing ... but only if the group democratically elected isn't the GOP.

user-pic

This is what you get when you combine hubris with complete lack of self-awareness.

user-pic

Never underestimate Republicans' capacity for self-pity and victimhood.
To paraphrase Daniel Burnham making no small plans-
Take no small umbrage
it has no magic to stir the base

user-pic

Funny how the Iranians hit the streets to oppose a stolen election, and the last time the Republicans hit the streets was to enable one.

user-pic

A co-worker quipped this morning that this ain't no Brooks Bros riot, not even an Armani one.

user-pic

Wolverines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

user-pic

What a bunch of puffed-up self-centered jerks.

(But we knew that.)

user-pic

How many have been killed/injured in the House of Representatives? What a jerk! The Republicans just want deperately to take some ownership of the Iranian protest so that Obama doesn't get credit for speaking directly to the people in that country. That's also why they are complaining about Obama's reaction to Iran not being supportive enough. Just a few months back Republicans were laughing at Obama for trying to talk directly to the Iranian people, saying it was useless.

user-pic

They really believe themselves as Revolutionaries!

Isn't it GG that calls them perpetual victims?

user-pic

Jon Stewart said it best: these numbskulls are confusing 'tyranny' with 'losing'.

Iranian people - governed ultimately by an unelected ruling elite protected by a ruthless armed force and secret police.

House GOP - got their asses handed to them on a platter the last two cycles, in entirely undisputed election results.

So just chew on that shit taco for a while, Reeps!

user-pic

Texans support their bid for freedom

Really??? Seriously???

Texans SUPPORT Iranians?????

I was under the (apparently mistaken) impression that Texans wanted to nuke the Iranians 'til they glowed. My bad.

Will wonders never cease!

user-pic

:) :) :)

couldn't have said it better...:)

Thanks to modern technology, we can rephrase those stirring words of Winston Churchill:

Never in the field of politics have so many been assaulted with so much stupidity at the hands of so few.

user-pic

one more laughable absurd notion from those pathetic losers.. oh brother..

user-pic

Kill them!! Sound familiar. The thug party is beyond pathetic and they don't even bother to listen to the polls showing that less than 27% identify with them
