Inhofe: Obama Not On The Side Of Terrorists--Or Our Troops.
Liz Cheney's basic line about President Obama's historic speech yesterday is that she's "troubled" that Obama thinks he can stop terrorism with "hand-holding."
Pretty harsh, right? Well, she's got nothing, though, on Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK). He called the speech, "un-American," adding, "I just don't know whose side he's on."
Curious which 'sides' Inhofe might have had in mind, I asked his communications director, Jared Young, to complete the picture a bit. According to Young, Inhofe was saying he's "kind of confused about why the President's going on foreign soil and in some cases echoing talking points from al Qaeda about Guantanamo Bay."
So is he saying he think's the President's on the side of terrorists?
"No, no, he's not saying that, no. He just certainly doesn't seem to be on the side of our men and women in uniform."
Well, I guess that clears that up.

Yeah, exactly. The Commander in Chief is not on the side of his troops who struggle against terrorism, "certainly." He is, to the contrary, parrotting the terrorists, in fact. So is he on their side?
Oh, no! Of course not. It just makes you wonder is all.
Clear as mud. And Imhofe's remarks are disgraceful.

Remember eons ago when it was "un-American" to speak out against a war president??
I cannot possibly imagine a member of the opposition Party saying George Bush is un-American and not on our side and getting away with it. It's really time elected Democrats stand up for our president.

yep, and the bitter-end of that logic is that it's unamerican to do anything but support bush's (and increasingly obama's) war efforts.

Yep, and it appears Inhofe knows a thing or two about "un-American" activities.

He sure does. Disgraceful.

Obama is on America's side. I am not sure which side Inhofe is on. Could you imagine if a Democrat said "I am not sure which side he is on" in the middle of two hot wars while president Bush spoke on foreign soil? Limbaugh and Fox News would want hearings on the possibility of charging him or her with treason. Bill O'Reilly would be ambushing the Senator at his home.

I really can't. Honestly can't.

Wait, wasn't it Bush who was photographed holding hands with a Saudi prince? That is, literally holding his hand, as opposed to making diplomatic overtures? Liz Cheney should sit down with Bush and scold him a bit.
As for Al Qaeda talking points, come on, now. How low, how stupid does a Republican have to be before a Democrat speaks out against him?

The same could be said for Republicans speaking out from some semblence of patriotism. Paging Senators Snowe and Collins! Cleanup on Aisle 1!

In response to Chris why the dem's don't stick up for the President...the answer is simple, they are gutless and spinless, they are the Charlie Brown party, and this from a registered Democrat. The main problem with the Dem's is they are not a cohesive unit as the republican's (well, as they were in the past). The Dem's are truely a bunch of groups who instinctively do not like each other (liberals, Blacks, Hipanics, gays, moderates and any other ethnic group you toss in). The won this past time because of hatred for Bush. I am telling you, they will blow it in 2010.

Ben Nelson is a registered Democrat too, btw.

There's a hole in the bucket, dear Liza, dear Liza... Seriously folks, how many times do we have to go over this? When you respond to idiocy, you legitimize that idiocy. It seems lately that every time a Republican opens up his mouth (or her mouth in the case of Bachman), they say something that smacks of lunacy. Is there really any reason to fight with someone who behaves like this? They ruin themselves without need of help. Every time Obama or his supporters don't respond to the hyperbolic rhetoric, we all start wringing our hands and wondering why he doesn't say something like "I know you are, but what am I?" Yet, in his measured approach, he always comes out just fine.

I mean no criticism, just maybe a constructive suggestion, to the TPM writers on this. And I agree with you in general, and I said as to Bay.
She, for example, is a total right wing nut. Totally nutso, and for many years now. Any time somebody like that opens their mouth as to a political subject, they're going to say something completely crazy. Is that worth covering? Maybe not. Is Imhofe different? That's a closer call since he's a Senator IMHO.
