Limbaugh Made Birther Joke On Air Today
Rush Limbaugh has some interesting timing -- he made a joke on his show earlier today about Barack Obama supposedly not having a birth certificate:
"You know a lot of people talk about Obama and his Messianic complex," said Limbaugh. "He does have one thing in common with God. Barack Obama has one thing in common with God. Do you know what it is? God does not have a birth certificate, either."

Josh, Eric, et. al -- your login process is painfully bad.
Painfully. Bad.
How can you spend so much time making sure the ads work and virtually none ensuring a half-way decent process for the viewers of those ads to participate in your forums? Do you wonder why so few people post comments here? Because this site is hostile to commenters.
Why, I don't understand.
Re: substance of the post...
When, exactly, is it "good timing" to propose POTUS is an invalid imposture?

Well, yeah, the login process could improve, but I disagree on the number of comments angle. This site often has fewer comments than, say, a newspaper. Why? I contend it's because the comments are more thoughtful overall.
For instance, I was reading the MN Star Tribune article on Coleman being ordered to pay Franken and there are currently 104 comments. Just wait, there'll be a lot more. The thing is, very few of them have any substance. A few people engage in calling each other names and take up at least half the comments, the predictable people take the opportunity to denigrate either the "libruls" or the "repuglicans," and a couple of people have something to say of general interest.
Contrast this to a typical TPM commentary. While some people foam, they also are capable of taking it back later and replacing it with something more on point. Often there is thoughtful idea and fact sharing. I will gladly trade quantity for quality.

I think you are doing something wrong. I just click on "sign in" up at the top left of the page, and that's that.

Yeah, for some reason that one works but the login link at the bottom of the page is screwed up. It takes you to a profile page that's impossible to edit, and when you click to go back to the original article it takes you to the home page instead.

That's curious. I always ended up in TPMCafe. It's them pesky pookas, I tell you.

Unfortunately the Limbaugh DNA has longevity as a strength; the men in this windbags family live forever.
This supports my theory that if you want to live a long life be a total ass.

I would say that Rush is getting closet to blasphemy with is statement about birth certificates and God. This guy is unstable and off his oxycotton

Should I take this joke as a statement from the GOP leadership?
(by the way, I just click on "sign in" and I am signed in automatically. Signing on to this site is easier than any other)

I just tried it. Something is screwy with the sign in process. Signed in at top left of page--still got taken to my profile--then hit "return to original article" & was taken to the front TPM page for today & had to re-navigate to this article.
Much as I like to know about any serious ass-hat stuff Limbaugh & Co are up to, this particular outrage really wasn't worth our time.

Richard....
I had a similar problem 8 or 9 months ago and I contacted TPM with the precise problem. They solved it and I have had no problems since...
As to Limbaugh and others... It has been known for generations that getting folks angry, irate, etc. will get their attention much more than giving them hard facts and reliable, unbiased information.
These clowns become and stay rich by getting their audiences riled up, even though fringes of those riled people may go out and vent their anger upon innocent people.
The important thing to remember, though, is that the hosts who do the riling will NEVER admit any responsibility. That part of their humanity has long been excised to make room for their egos, power and wealth. Losing a few listeners who end up murdering others seems to be no inconvenience at all, because the notoriety just gives them a larger audience and more money... IMHO

The more comments the Republicans make, like this one, the further they drive me away. I find myself not even considering what their message is, as I have now made my mind up, that they are almost to the point of dangerous, not just angry.

Who cares what this fat bastard has to say. Oh, I know, a Rush to fudge-mint!

Limbaugh's job is to keep the slackjaws of the extreme rightwing -- the GOP base -- in a constant state of rage. When one of his crazed dittoheads goes over the edge, as they inevitably will do, the blood they spill is on Limbaugh's fat fingers.
Limbaugh is aiding and abetting our nation's worst enemies.

Please do not post pictures of Rush. Some of us are eating an early lunch.

I don't think Obama is the one with the Messiah complex here.
Or any other kind of complex.

The individual states are granted the authority by the US gov't to keep track of births in their various states and to issue Certifications of Live Birth to be used by people when needed. Hawaii says this guy was born there. (And two newspapers 50 years ago confirm it). End-of-story.
Until there is some evidence to the contrary that is more compelling than the governer and top health official in charge of vital records of a US State confirming his birth, then this is a silly non-issue that will only further marginalize the Republican party.
