Obama Calls For Increased Efforts For Two-State Solution
In a press conference earlier today, alongside German Chancellor Angela Merkel, President Obama called for the international community to increase its efforts towards a two-state solution in the Israeli-Palestinian disputes. Israel Not Changing Settlement Policy After Obama's Speech
The Israeli government is going against President Obama's call for a halt to settlement activity in the West Bank. "With all due respect to President Obama, and there is respect, and to the deep friendship between Israel and the United States, no foreign leader of another country will set policy in Judea and Samaria," said lawmaker Ofir Akonis, a member of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's conservative Likud Party.

White House To Name "Pay Czar" For Bailed Out Companies
The Wall Street Journal reports that the Obama Administration will appoint a new "pay czar" -- officially called the Special Master for Compensation -- to ensure that companies receiving bailout funds are following executive-pay guidelines. The White House is expected to appoint Kenneth Feinberg, who previously oversaw the federal government's compensation fund for victims of the 9/11 attacks.

Pelosi Says She Pressed China On Human Rights During Trip
Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she has used her trip to China to urge the country's leaders to make changes on human rights. "Nineteen years ago, I stood in Tiananmen Square and unfurled a banner as an individual Member of Congress representing my views," said Pelosi, adding that, "Eighteen years later, as Speaker, I could sit opposite the president of China, the premier, the chairman of the National People's Congress, and express those views to them directly."

Schweitzer's endorsement is being done only in his personal capacity, not as chairman of the DGA. Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell will also be backing McAuliffe.

Palin Warns Against "Fearful Population, And Fearful Lawmakers"
In a speech yesterday in Anchorage, while introducing Michael Reagan, Sarah Palin warned against the use of fear in making public policy. "We need to be aware of the creation of a fearful population, and fearful lawmakers," said Palin, "being led to believe that big government is the answer, to bail out the private sector, because then government gets to get in there and control it."

Brilliant speech!!!

Palin warns of the politics of fear by trying to scare the shit out of people. Seriously? And as Jon Stewart Would say - NOW we are worried about scaring people?!

user-pic

Yeah, and all that shit about William Ayers and "palling around with terrorists" wasn't her attempt at scaring people, and Bush's 2004 ads with wolves coming at the camera wasn't his attempt at scaring people.

Sarah, like they said in The Deer Hunter, "You're so full of shit you're gonna float away."

user-pic

heh heh, gross.

Funny how Sarah still made the national news. But I think that she is still in her fade from the limelight as the laughingstock of the country. What's weird is that she misses being made fun of by everyone. I guess being made fun of by Alaskans solely is suck a fall from, um, grace.

user-pic

SUCH a fall. Sheesh!

user-pic

Not to worry. We get a fair amount of practice sorting out what word posters really meant. The only real problem is when posters have such poor command of the language that there are multiple puzzling word choices and much creative grammar usage to go along with simple typos. Fortunately, not so much on this site, but one does see a lot of it on sites where you have to wipe the foam and spittle off your screen every other post or so.

"no foreign leader of another country will set policy in Judea and Samaria"

LOL.

user-pic

"no foreign leader of another country will set policy in the United States."

LOL.

user-pic

SP probably only wants a fearful population that religion can control!

user-pic

Hey Israel, when do you want to start returning all of the military aid we've given you? I'm sure we could find a better use for all those jets, tanks, missiles and clusterbombs. If you don't want peace, then don't count on our help for your perpetual war effort. We are tired of your bullshit.

user-pic

Sarah Palin is truly hilarious.

Thank God they lost.

user-pic

Second on both counts.

Perhaps its time to re-introduce the oldie-but-goodie http://www.palinaspresident.us/ for everyone's surfing enjoyment?

It's worth clicking the link on Palin's actual comments. When you put her words in context... they make even less sense than you thought they did.

WARNING - Anyone sensitive to the incorrect use of the English language, or those with a highly developed sense of irony, might want to avert their eyes.

"Since when can you get out of huge national debt by creating trillions of dollars of new debt? It all really is so backwards and skewed as to sound like absolute nonsense when some of this economic policy is explained...

We need to be aware of the creation of a fearful population, and fearful lawmakers, being led to believe that big government is the answer, to bail out the private sector, because then government gets to get in there and control it. And mark my words, this is going to be next, I fear, bail out next debt-ridden states. Then government gets to get in there and control the people...

Some in Washington would approach our economic woes in ways that absolutely defy Economics 101, and they fly in the face of principles, providing opportunity for industrious Americans to succeed or to fail on their own accord. Those principles it makes you wonder what the heck some in Washington are trying to accomplish here."

user-pic

It staggers the mind to think that this idiot was a VP candidate. Oh that's right, she ran with McCain. Makes perfect sense now.

user-pic

Jesus, that's painful.

user-pic

Wow. Reminds me of the epiphany I had when watching her try to debate Biden last summer ("Why does she annoy me so much? That's it! She's a female version of George Bush -- ignorant and inarticulate, yet wrapped in a smirk.").

user-pic

Can you imagine if Palin had been Bush's VP? Not counting everything else (without Cheney, it would have been a different world), can you imagine just trying to make sense of WTF the Whitehouse was saying? Analysts would have a spike in depression, at the least.

user-pic

Oh matyra, I wanted to laugh when I read that. The idea of Palin/Bush trying to explain each other is very funny but only because it didn't really happen.

user-pic

"WARNING - Anyone sensitive to the incorrect use of the English language, or those with a highly developed sense of irony, might want to avert their eyes."

I think you mean anyone that believes they have a basic understanding of the English language should avert their eyes to avoid the abject confusion brought about by trying to make sense of anything thing Palin says.
I don't know why I always read what she says and wonder why I can't understand it - like there is something wrong with me.
