Toomey Raises $1 Million In 60 Days, Signs Up Former Specter Backers
Former Rep. Pat Toomey (R-PA), whose conservative primary challenge spurred Sen. Arlen Specter into switching to the Democrats, has announced that he's raised $1 million in the past 60 days since he declared his candidacy -- a sign that he's building up the momentum to potentially nail down the GOP nomination.
In a fun side-note, the Toomey campaign's press release also announces that he's signed on long-time Pennsylvania Republican fundraisers Amy Petraglia and Carey Dunn: "Petraglia and Dunn have helped raised money for a number of statewide Pennsylvania candidates, including Rick Santorum, Lynn Swann, and Arlen Specter." (Emphasis added.)
Toomey has also signed up Specter's former finance director, Louisa Boyd, to be his own top fundraiser.

Uh, he does work for the club for growth. You know that group that supported the sort of no hold's bar anti-regulation business platform that has run this country into a ditch. You know there is a pattern repeating itself here, how many times are the people of the US going to be fooled by tools like Toomey. He clearly seems like a sharp guy and all but unfortunately I do not see him as the type that cares very much for the little guy, nor do I see him as someone who can reach out and compromise on serious issues facing this country. Surely the GOP in Penn can find someone that more represents the kind of diversity which exist within the conservative community rather than just preaching to the most hard-core activist?

They could, but they've shrunk to the point where wingnuts are the majority of the primary voters, so someone who preaches to the wingnuts is going to win the nomination.
