House Republicans Say Democrats Won't Hold Health Care Vote Before Recess

This hasn't been officialized by House leadership, but Republicans are circulating a report that House Democrats won't hold a health care vote before adjourning Friday. Via Politico:

From: Cavicke, David Sent: Tuesday, July 28, 2009 4:51 PM To: REDACTED Subject: Schedule

Democratic Leadership has told Mr. Boehner's staff that there will be no vote on Health on the Floor before recess and we will leave Friday.

We still have no confirmation of plans to resume or end the Committee Markup.

David L. Cavicke
Republican Chief of Staff
Committee on Energy and Commerce

No word on who told Boehner this or in what language or context. But it appears all but certain that this is how things will play out.

Crooks and scoundrels.

Don't give up the fight. Let's call Congressional offices every day during recess. Fax, phone, email and tell them what you think.

Heck, if you know where these mofos live or vacation, go kick some sand in their face.

Point is, keep up the pressure. I hope this August recess gambit backfires and all they hear is anger from their constituents because they are CROOKS.

We need to use the recess to incentivize our Congresspersons and Senators so that upon their return they officialize meaningful health care reform

I am with the Boy Senior Editor, TNR..this is the second best outcome to both houses wrapping things up b4 recess

Lost you on that last part.

CNN is reporting that Democrats have said, sternly, that they said no such thing.

Not, of course, that Democrats are saying that the Republicans are wrong about the recess, just that Democrats haven't said anything yet.

God, they really are spineless wimps at times.

Isn't Energy and Commerce the committee that is chaired by Rep. Waxman? Didn't he suggest that he might bypass his own committee and refer the bill directly to the House floor?
Perhaps that is the vote that won't be held before Congress recesses...

I keep received request for donation by the Obama campaign. I let them know that I will not give a dollar until they decide to go through the reconciliation process and pass a bill with public option.

The President isn't involved in the reconciliation process.

You might want to direct your ire at the Senators and Reps responsible.

Krugman:

*People in the know say not to worry too much about the awfulness of the Finance proposal; the important thing is getting it out of committee, so that it can be fixed in later negotiations. I hope they’re right.

Of course I am

Possible but I don't believe that much of what I read on Politico.

Good point.

Politico = GOP newsletter

Republicans have trouble distinguishing between reality and their own fondest wet dreams.

unfortunately, I never have the same problem.
