Limbaugh Still Pumping Birtherism, Raises "Dual-Citizenship" Issue
Rush Limbaugh is still pumping Birtherism, hyping on his show today an essay in National Review by Andrew McCarthy, who dissented in part from the magazine's official editorial against the movement:
In that article, McCarthy falsely stated that the matter of Obama's Kenyan father, which would present "dual-citizenship issues," was "an uncharted constitutional concept." In the audio clip above, Limbaugh also promoted the dual-citizenship claim.
In fact, this territory is quite well charted. President Chester A. Arthur, who was elected Vice President in 1880 and then served nearly a full term after President James Garfield's assassination, was born of an American mother and an Irish immigrant father who was not yet a citizen at the time Chester was born. Arthur was also born on U.S. soil (Vermont), but faced rumors from political opponents that he'd been born across the border in Canada. This is essentially the exact same set of circumstances as in Obama's case.
On the other hand, there is one rather obvious difference between Obama and Arthur. And for Limbaugh and the Birther movement, perhaps this does make for an important distinction.

Arthur was right-handed?

Ooh I know this one! Arthur had facial hair. Not too many presidents like that these days.

Don't anybody be dissing good old Chester Arthur! I used to teach at Union College in upstate NY, and he's their most famous alum (the other famous one is William Seward.) Statue on campus and all.

Don't forget Andrew Jackson. Both of his parents were Irish immigrants who landed on US soil not long before Jackson was born.

I get the difference. In Arthur's case, he's dead, whereas in Obama's case, his attackers are brain dead.

No, Chester Arthur was a Baptist.
The obvious difference is that Chester Arthur was a Republican, so the claims that he was really born in Ireland or Canada or somewhere were pretty thoroughly laughed out of sight AND sound quite quickly, whereas Barack Obama is a Democrat, so there is definitely a strong probability that he's not a real American and may even be the AntiChrist.

Just why the Birthers think that any laws of foreign nations as to whether or not children born to their citizens get citizenship have any application in the U.S. is beyond me. Foreign nations do not rule the United States and any true American would know this. For shame, Rush, next thing you know you'll be advocating for world government.

And, like Obama, Arthur was left-handed. This must mean something!

I think it may be time to start discussing the Fat Addict's parentage. Was the sow that bore him an American citizen? Does he have a pedigree? Does he or anyone else know who his father is?

Rush and the birthers now have some legitimate muscle behind their message- Chuck Norris. The most dangerous man alive just aligned himself with the most craziest group forming some sort of redneck-tarded Voltron... http://unreasonablysafe.wordpress.com/2009/08/08/be-careful-obama/
