MoveOn Targets Landrieu For Ties To Insurance Industry, Opposition Of Public Option
The groups MoveOn, Democracy for America, and Change Congress are out with a new ad in Louisiana targeting Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) for her opposition to a public option.
MoveOn hasn't shied away from criticizing Democrats who are trying to kill the public option. In the last couple weeks, the group has loudly criticized Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Kay Hagan (D-CA) for their positions on the public option, and their lukewarm attitude to health care reform more generally.

It's about time. Unfortunately, Landrieu is pretty much a lost cause. For her, politics is all about the money.
Now, if the single payer supporters were to contribute millions of dollars to her re-election coffers and her family's foundation, well, then we might have us a little something to discuss.

Wal-marts coming aboard on health care reform is a big step toward bringing Landrieu around.

If Walmart is on board, better read all the fine print in the bill.

Before I say this, let me first say it isn't meant to be sexist.
Men have certainly made a mess of social policy in this country (OK, policy, in general). That said, it's interesting to see so many women Democrats obstructing health care reform right now. My wife once said to me, "Watch. If women were in charge, the priorities in this country would shift dramatically because women know what it means to take care of a family." And I know that, on the whole, that's true--and that, ultimately, men still fill most of the power structure.
Still, Kay Hagan, Mary Landrieu, DiFi, Blanche Lincoln--and so-called Republican "moderates" like Olympia Snowe--are some of the most vocal critics of health care reform. That says nothing hopeful.

So I guess what we are seeing is evidence that women can be just as venal and corrupt as men.
I suppose that's progress of a sort.

good. moveon's dollars are better spent pressuring dems than wasting money on retardicans who are "ideologically" opposed to government solutions that don't benefit their corporate or theological paymasters.
for better or worse, through a combination of retardican incompetence and malfeasance and grass roots support, the dems have the momentum. they need to understand they will only benefit from dem momentum if they, you know, support dem positions.
good for moveon, they are one of the strongest progressive outlets in the country.

You know the drill. Call, fax, but tell them this is a national issue and we need them to support a strong public option.
