Organizing For America Launches National TV Ad Campaign To Push Health Care
President Obama's campaign arm, Organizing for America, has begun running television ads stressing the need for a health care system overhaul across the country, just as the reform debate on Capitol Hill reaches a crucial turning point. The ads will run on national cable channels, and locally in Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, and Washington, D.C.
Though the ads don't name any politicians, it's pretty clear from the placement that they're directed at conservative Democratic and moderate Republican congressmen and senators.
The ads come as the White House has begun to acknowledge that Congress--and particularly the Senate--is well behind schedule if it's to prepare a bill for the President's signature by mid-October. As for Obama himself, in the last two days, he's jumped into the legislative back and forth like at no other time since the push for health care reform began this spring. Since returning from a trip to Europe and Africa, he's met with Democratic leaders, and Blue dogs, and has urged key members of Congress to pick up the pace as August recess approaches.

Whew! Now that we have all the details thanks to that ad, I guess we're all very pleased and well-equipped to back democratic legislators.

It's just shocking to consider the implications of this ad: that there are members of our highest legislative bodies who are so out of it that an ad like this makes them re-think their views.
We are truly ruled by idiots...

I got a request for money to help place these ads. I couldn't imagine why someone would give or spend money on them. What do they say that could mean anything important to, for example, Kent Conrad?
I'm all in favor or running ads in relatively inexpensive North Dakota (Conrad's vote counts the same as Feinstein's); but, please, let's say something that might actually move his position from center-right, leftward.

I wrote Conrad an impassioned letter (he's not my senator) with specific examples of bad or no health insurance for myself, members of my family, and friends. Response: crickets. I'm sure it got tossed in the 'can't vote for me, so who cares' pile.
Maybe this can spark letters from his constituents so maybe he'll give a rat's hienie.

Please OFA, it's health insurance reform, not health care reform! The public which is pushing back against reform efforts, aside the real wingnuts, are scared their health care will get worse and go away, but they know their insurance is mucked up.
And I agree with the comments that this is just saying something has to be done, but now is the time to say just what. The ad doesn't even mention the public option.

Wow, what a let-down. Ads are supposed to persuade viewers to act. This ad is a waste of money. It's a weak statement at best.
