Castor To Hold Next Town Hall By Phone
Rep. Kathy Castor (D-FL), whose town hall event last night was disrupted by demonstrators organized through Glenn Beck's 912 Project, will be holding another discussion with her constituents on August 13 -- only this time, it will be a telephone town hall, the Tampa Bay Tribune reports.
At her meeting last night, Castor left after only 15 minutes, because she was unable to get a word in edgewise over the shouts of "Tyranny," "You work for us," and other such objections. Fights broke out, though nobody was arrested.
Castor told the paper that she will hold the meeting in this alternative format because she'll be able to reach more people.

Yes. She should return, spend 3 hours without being able to explain the plan or answer any legitimate questions just to prove a point and give the wingers more YouTube moments.

No you moron. This is a better way to handle things because now she can have a town hall meeting with people who actually want to talk about healthcare. Not rabblerousers who don't live in the Congressman's district and are only there to stir up shit.

I think this is an EXCELLENT idea.
I am concerned that at one of these town hall meetings someone will REALLY get hurt. There are crazies out there.

I saw the video some wingnut took that was posted here at TPM last night. It was taken outside the doors in the hallway where the idiots on the Tampa 9/12 project were posting all the action happened. I didn't see any fistfight. I saw one punk (I think his wife says he's 37) in an olive green golf shirt who tried to force his way in get held against the wall by a guy much older and stronger than he was until he quit struggling and calmed down. In the end his face was scratched and his shirt was torn.
I don't know if there were other fisticuffs but one commentator said the fine supporters of liberty should be proud, they knocked down a disabled woman. Don't know whose side the writer was excoriating.

I would like to think of that as a sarcastic comment by said commentator, but who knows anymore? And Lord knows, it's a shame the way sarcasm and irony are lost on wingnuts anyway.
