Coburn Supports Palin And Grassley, Says Dems Plan To Limit Care
Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) is now backing up Sarah Palin's "death panel" line and Chuck Grassley's assertion that the Democrats would "pull the plug on grandma," citing as proof that the Democrats shot down an amendment he'd offered for an absolute prohibition on rationing based on comparative effectiveness research:
"Their plan -- they're not gonna speak it, because they know if they speak it, it'll never pass -- their plan is to control costs by limiting options," said Coburn. "That's how England controls costs, that's how Canada controls costs. They give you access to a waiting line. And unfortunately, tons of people die every year."

LONDON — Britain's health care service says it is sick of being lied about.

The problem of course is chasing down these red herrings by pointing out that they're lying about Britain, Canada, Germany, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, France, Switzerland etc is yet another dead distraction in the "nonsense feedback loop"

"How dare the Republicans bad-mouth our free health care system?" Guardian columnist Michele Hanson wrote Wednesday. "If I'd been born in the U.S., I'd probably be dead by now."

Any debate about the future of this country should first begin with the basis that President Obama is not a citizen who also wants to setup "death panels" to kill your grandma. From there, all serious debates can begin.

So it's "conservative" to waste money on ineffective treatments. Thanks for clearing that up, you demented asshole.

Well, he's continuing to provide proof that trying to get Republicans to sign on to reform is a futile quest.
Screw the bipartisanship, Obama. These people are not to be trusted.

Can you really trust either party? I've been wondering if "bipartisanship" is the Dems facile excuse for why they can't get anything done even with a congressional majority and the White House.

You're right, sadly enough. It's increasingly clear that Dems aren't trustworthy, either.

"rationing based on comparative effectiveness research"
Interesting, sine I have never seen any report attesting to Coburn's introduction of any bills promoting this action with our present system run by insurance agencies.
Perhaps someone might hint to him that he needs to push for this during one of his funding meetings with those same corporations...
These clowns are only interested in one thing... keeping and gaining power. Public interest is not even considered.
These talking points need to be addressed with the same vigor. Ask them how many bills they have promoted in the past addressing this problem... or to promote a bill at this time, to show just how much they are willing to make their big corporate health sponsors upset... because they are actually representing commoners also. IMHO

Who cares about Coburn? He'd vote against ANYTHING the Democrats proposed. Anything. He's rendered himself irrelevant.

When are they going to catch this guy in a men's restroom and get him out of the senate? Paging Larry Flynt. Put a tail on him.

Aside from the fact that there are no waiting lines for urgent care in single payer countries, dare we tell Coburn how many people die in this country for lack of care all together?

He already knows and those people will never vote republican. It's called elections and cutting down the people that vote for the dems. Voter caging, deny health care, limit voting machines in poor areas, etc., etc. Pathetic.

As opposed to the fine system we have here where my wife had to wait 6 months for ACL surgery...

I want to see the first Senator to propose a suspension or termination of their current health care benefits until we have a health care for all.
These bastards need to feel the how other people are living and dying. The GOP is the party of death and disease!

I'm proud of my Democratic Senator, Sherrod Brown, who for this very reason has NEVER accepted the Congressional coverage right from the time he was first elected to the House. And he has vowed never to do so until good coverage is available to everyone.

Sen Brown is a great leader on this issue and also on many others. He has done a great job in presenting the reasons for HEALTH CARE REFORM!

Actually, as Obama pointed out a couple of days ago, the janitor who cleans their offices gets the exact same health care benefits. It's available to all government employees. And if you actually look at what they get, it's not significantly different from a lot of employer-provided health care benefits.
