A new TV ad from Gov. Jon Corzine (D-NJ) attacks his Republican opponent, former U.S. Attorney Chris Christie, over the undisclosed $46,000 loan that Christie made to Michele Brown, a subordinate of his in the U.S. Attorney's office who recently had to resign over the scandal:
"When he was caught, Christie said it was a 'mistake,' But he prosecuted people who did the same thing," the announcer says. "Chris Christie. One set of rules for himself. Another for everyone else."
Also note that the announcer first refers to Christie as "Republican Chris Christie" -- pushing the message to voters in this Democratic state that Christie is not only shady, but he's a Republican.

Why not shoot the whole wad and say, "Bush-appointed U.S. Attny Republican Chris Christie"?

Previous ads have explicitly tied Christie to Bush. The one I've seen most often shows Christie listening to some speech, except that the audio of the speech is muted and all we hear and see is Christie clapping slowly, while the voiceover notes his status as a Bush appointee and his favoring of loyal Bushies for contracts. It's a strange ad, but effective. This new one looks more specific, which I think is a good step.

There's a difference? Not in NJ. There isn't much of a Republican base in NJ, certainly fewer evangelical wingnuts to raise money, man your phones or knock on doors for you. So usually they run come freak who has made millions or billions the Republican way. In Christie's case he got the blessing of Rove and the Bush WH early on which I'm sure looked like a wise move at the time. But now? Not so much.

Wow, I never realized how grossly overweight Christie is. Maybe that's why they only use head shots in his campaign.
Then again, Gerald Nadler, one of the good guys, is no skinny rail, either.

Jeebus, when do the folks here think they'll get around to exposing Corzine's affair with the head of the State workers union, and the millions he's given her?
Beating up Christie is just laughable in light of his record. What amazing hypocrisy. Compared to this Christie is a choir boy.

Oh, Ye of Little Faith!
The Lord has spoken to me once again and assured me that He intervened once more to reveal the hypocrisy of the GOP tools of Satan, Christie and McDonnell. He thought that He would have restored confidence to His chosen people, the Democrats, by His destruction of the "C" Street Coven minions of Satan, Ensign, Sanford, Pickering, and Coburn, all within a matter of days virtually, but, No!, the naysayers, those of little faith, would not embrace the Holy Spirit and renew their faith in the ultimate triumph of good over evil. He then decided to make a further demonstration of His divine will by smiting both of the most prominent Pharisees of the 2009 campaign, Christie and McDonnell, in just one week. How much proof do we need?
Furthermore He has confirmed to me that He will allow no GOP hypocrite son of Satan, my redundancy, not His, to long continue to hide their true nature should they venture into the public arena. This will not be the last manifestation of His judgment. All GOP evildoers must know that His days of testing the chosen people with the Golden Calves are over and the days of redemption are upon us.
He also wants us all to know that, contrary to current CW, He does have a sense of humor, as evidenced by many of the strange creatures He caused Satan to empower, and that He has a keen sense of style, which was offended mightily by Christie's gluttony and McDonnell's dye job. He also works in strange ways His wonders to perform, as witnessed by his use of the Mainstream Media for His purposes when it suits Him, as evidenced by the WaPo breaking the McDonnell story.
Relax, saith the Lord. He will not fail us.
