At a town hall Wednesday night, Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK) told constituents, "We're almost reaching a revolution in this country."

The reason? "People are not buying these concepts that are completely foreign to America."

Inhofe also said he doesn't need to know what's in a health care reform bill to vote against it.

"I don't have to read it, or know what's in it. I'm going to oppose it anyways," he said at the event in Chickasha, Okla.

The senator was in good company, with most of the audience agreeing with him and expressing their disdain for big government and Democrats. One man said, "No more compromise. We're losing our country."

Inhofe isn't the first to predict a revolution. Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) told a town hall on Tuesday, "We're seeing the beginning of a peaceful -- and I emphasize peaceful -- revolt in America."

In March, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) called for citizens to be "armed and dangerous" against an energy tax and that "having a revolution every now and then is a good thing."

And in May, former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney said Republicans need to "once again lead the American Revolution."

So all the "READ.THE.BILL" braying that's gone on applies only to those who might vote for the bill?

And VivaAmerica! is right: the videos of these events will come in very handy come election time.

Corollary to this: I don't have to listen to Inhofe's speeches or pay any attention to what he's saying to know he's an asshole.

Gee, and I always thought that I was being snarky when I referred to them as the "Know-Nothing" party. I guess the real (or should that be "unreal") world has a way of catching up.

I think we already saw the revolt. The last two election cycles along with the GOP's current polling numbers, which are damn near test patern levels.

The sad part is that the people who "won" the revolt of the past two cycles are trying their best to piss it away by "consolidating their power base". In a sense, becoming the New Permanent Elite in place of what Rove wanted to create, and in a bitterly ironic sense using some of the same methods of selling out to corporate interests. "Please bribe us and not the other party because we have the power and will take care of you."

When does trying to over throw your government become treason, because that IS the definition. Because you don't like what the majority voted doesn't mean you get to start a revolution! Thata is anarchy and treason!! It should be said; it's been too long in coming.

Thinking is anti-American, debate is for fools!

Thank you for your concise statement of why the GOP is heading for permanent rump Party status.

Most of these guys are traditional thinkers whose values are based on those of their family and on the church. Agriculture is a key industry to them. Traditionalists of this type resist change. They see no reason for it and they fear it. They tend to be anti-modern.

America now has a more than 50% urban population that works in modern jobs which force a great deal social and economic interdependence. Rather than traditional, thinking, the mode of thinking is rational. Rational thinking means to identify a problem, collect facts, apply logic, and change what needed to be changes.

Rational thinkers don't give much weight to traditional way of life or working. It's the mode of thought for people living in a modern urban-dominated world.

Inhofe is scared to death that the modern urban ways of life and thinking will swallow him up, and he'll fight it tooth and nail. The fear the conservatives are trying to spread? They live in it every day. That's why they think it is such a good tool to use to kill health care. It's what they know.

And no, they don't need rational thought. That's part of what they are fighting against.

I think it's funny these fools think it's a given that they would actually win if they started a "revolution". I think they would find out rather quickly who the real Americans are. And it would be a civil war, not a revolution. And we all know how the last one of those ended up

One really has to wonder where these guys are going to go, psychologically, if they don't win more seats in the 2010 election. They're already crazy, and their guy hasn't even been out for a whole YEAR. Will we see Glenn Beck actually foaming at the mouth on TV in 2011?

Groucho Marx said "Whatever it is, I'm against it!" back in the 1930's The difference is that Groucho was funny; Inhofe is just pathetic.

James Inhofe, Ignorant and Proud of it!
Evidence on Global Warming? Who needs it?
Health Care for all Americans? Don't make me laugh!
Bills in Congress, and Supreme Court Justices? Why waste my time studying anything, I already know my way.

The worst kind of know nothing are the ones that are proud of their unbending will, into which nothing can make inroads, against which logic is powerless. And when facts have no meaning, when reality becomes immaterial, you have people like James Inhofe leading the way.

I feel nothing but contempt for that fool.

I am not getting something here. I thought it was a crime to call for armed insurrection, especially from someone who has sworn an oath to uphold the constitution. Am I missing something with the statements and conduct from all these fools?

Also, it will be interesting to see what the history books 20 years from now write about this time in american history. It will be fascinating.

No, Grasshopper. You see, when progressives call for nonviolent civil disobedience, or even mere protest, against, let us say, hypothetically, mind you, a war launched based on premeditated lies, costing trillions in treasure and more in blood and lives, for the benefit of favored industries and contractors, that is treason.

When Republicans, backed by obscenely wealthy industries, call for armed insurrection against the popular will to extend a financial backstop to ordinary Americans, already available in every other country in the industrialized world (and in some spots in the developing world as well, e.g. Costa Rica, which somehow manages to offer universal health care on a per capita income of $5K) -- that, Grasshoper, is patriotism.

I am grateful to have been able to clear up this minor confusion. I hope you are now able to think clearly about this matter. I am always at your service.
