Media Matters TV Ad Attacks Dobbs And CNN For "Racially-Charged Paranoia"

Media Matters has unveiled this new TV ad, attacking Lou Dobbs for promoting Birtherism:

"It's time for 'the most trusted name in news' to live up to its slogan," the announcer says. "Let CNN know, there's nothing legitimate about racially-charged paranoia."

The ad will run on all three of the big cable news networks -- including on CNN, during Dobbs' own show.

Also, the Associated Press reports on how Dobbs' Birtherism has become a big headache for CNN. "He's embarrassed himself and he's embarrassed CNN," said former CNN correspondent Brooks Jackson. "And that's not a good thing for any network that wants to be seen as a reputable, nonpartisan news organization."

I am with you, vamo. Why is the birth certificate not plastered over the picture for the ending of the commercial? Why don't they answer the quesion "the long form is gone by order of Hawaii?'

Terrible ad for a moral cause.

The add is horrible. I'm glad I did not contribute to put this ad on the air. MoveOn has a petition we can sign here:

Who advertises on the Dobbs show? (There is no way I could watch him unless I was paid a substantial amount of money.) Can certain advertisers be targeted for petitions also? (I doubt the entire hour is sponsored by right wing hate groups and the RNC.) I would think stronger organizations such as Southern Poverty Law Center, Anti-Defamation League, NAACP, ACLU maybe, have better expertise to deal with this and I probably would contribute if one of them made a serious effort to go after Dobbs.

I'd fire Dobbs anyway, and take the chance he'd go to Faux News!

Did Orly Taitz steal the idea for this character from Sasha Baron Cohen???

You must watch this clip.

I have to agree with others that this is an awful ad. And why, oh why, is Media Matters sending money from its contributors to Lou Dobbs? (That, of course, is what happens when you buy an ad on his show.)

To top it all off, Dobbs can look as though he's a profile in courage, allowing left-wing wackos to advertise against him on his own show.

Come on, folks. I'm sure any number of people in ad agencies would be happy to help you pro bono. Don't let your egos get in the way of getting assistance: Harry and Louise are there because they're effective.
